Quote from Gringinho:
mcshey,
how is a total disappearance of US demand going to be happening?
Will the North American continent be teletransported into some giant flying UFO?
As I said - offset, and it doesn't happen overnight, does it?
You're just getting silly here!
If you want to see what a collapse looks like, then go to your history books and study, the roman empire, the persian empire, even recent history, you could study the great depression. The great depression occured almost overnight, and took a decade to recover.
What do you think happens to an empire when it collapses? Do you really think americans are going to continue to consume and use like they use to? WHen this happens, NO ONE HAS MONEY, because the accepted form of money, Cash, is worthless, so with nothing accepted as an exchange for goods, NO TRADE takes place.
As for the Asian economies, without American demand for goods, there won't be a need for manufacturing and manufacturing jobs, as people become unemployed, they have no money to spend, no money to spend, less demand for oil!
This is pretty simple stuff, maybe less time studying ufo's and more time reviewing macro economics, just a suggestion.
