‘America Was Never Great’: Maxine Waters Supporters Burn American Flag Outside Her Office

Members of a “black power” group doused an American flag in lighter fluid, burned it, and placed their fists over the charred remains outside the Los Angeles office of Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) on Thursday after they seized the flag from a passing truck.

According to the Associated Press, the small group was there to support Waters and to counter-protest against a far-right group called the “Oath Keepers,” what had planned to rally against the congresswoman. However, the Oath Keepers called off its demonstration.

Waters has become the center of a national debate about civility in politics. Last month, Waters told a crowd of her supporters: “If you see anybody from that [Trump] Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”

The Oath Keepers reportedly called Waters a “protest terrorist inciter” and announced a protest against the congresswoman in front of her Los Angeles offices, over Twitter:

And most fresh off the boat first gen type immigrants like have Poindexter have no idea how much they are full of it.

I have made a point of asking the most aggressive of the trumpers I've met in the real world when their family came to the US. The same answer every time. 1-2 generation every time.

They have no history, no tradition & depth but they are super OTT nationalist in a desperate and embarrassing way. I'm remained of overcompensating small cars with "go faster stripes"..

Well, if I a black man of say 50 years plus would make that claim he would at least have somewhat of an argument to make to support that position. If I were a unemployed, uneducated black man of the twenty and thirty something crowd who only had the prospect of hoping a job a McD might pay me 15 bucks an hour, I'd be bitter too. Bitter at the fact that I would know deep down that I'm living in a country that offers a young black man every opportunity for higher education, usually free or damn near free. I'd know I was living in a country where even the slightest effort shown by me to go get a job and just show up would offer advancement opportunities simply because I was black. In the quiet of the night in my most reflective moments I'd know I fucking blew it all because I was lazy and felt entitled to get something for nothing, and I'd know that I didn't make the most minimal effort required to enjoy all the opportunity being presented to me. Yep, I'd be pissed too. The question is, would I have the courage to lay the blame where it belongs, or would I just continue to blame whitey and hope my democratic black and white slave masters would keep excusing my self imposed failures so long as kept voting for them. Would I continue to believe the lies they told me, or would I break the psychologial chains they put on me, escape the urban plantation they house me in, and go live free man.
