I'm probably taking a hard right turn here, but I thought of the passage in revelation, chap 17:5 (I had to look this up)
"And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH". King James vers.
I don't think this passage is referencing America (I know you weren't saying this) but I do think it refers to the world system? possibly? Most look at the book of Revelation as one of the prophetic books in the bible, along with several old testament books.
