Yes, I believe it's an oligarchy... not to our credit. Not a "democracy" now... never has been.
My experience of the world is this, there are a few slovenly, lazy people but just a few percent. The people who really unfairly redistribute communal/federal wealth, are the very wealthy. Walmart paying below a living wage knowing it's employees will get the rest from state/federal assistance etc. And that is just a tiny bit.
But to draw fire from themselves, they have created the narrative that the poor are the bad guys. They own the media, they control the horizontal and the vertical as it were.
They are the ones that coaxed the party and candidate funding systems into one where mostly only horrible people can get support. They made corporations people under the constitution and money into speech.
The poor are the least of your worries. If candidate funding was sorted out so not just shameless sociopaths who can tolerate spending 70% of their time calling donors get into government, you might see some change.
How does that happen though?
The league office must be going nuts. Of course, they are all studiously PC, so they could never condemn a black athlete claiming to be protesting anything (except gay marriage or trans bathrooms, then they're suspended). At the same time, one thing Roger Goodell is competent at is reading the TV ratings. And counting empty seats. Neither looks good.
Fans have totally had it with overpaid assholes lecturing them on politics, whether it's moronic players or ESPN talkers. Shut up and play or just go away. Every one of you is replaceable.
