Labels take on different meanings over time. "Liberalism" currently = Communism, large dictatorial government, government suppression of personal freedoms.
You seem to think "Liberalism is a good thing". Not for anyone who appreciates personal freedoms.
Liberal/Left = Socialism, Progressive-ism, Communism, Marxism, Nazism. They're all "cousins".
The antithesis of "Liberal/Left" is "US Constitutional Conservatism". Off hand I can't think of those principles existing in any country before the American Revolution... but it's what made America great. Unfortunately, it's being destroyed by the Liberal Left... just like everywhere else Leftism has touched.

The US did NOT invent the ideas your constitution is founded on. Those lads were Europeans, the USA is mostly the story of what happened when Europeans found a big shiny continent. The writers of the constitution were not formed from clay in Virginia or elsewhere, or inspired by God as some constitutional cultists seems to think.
You might want to look up:
The Magna Carta Libertatum which is it's full name. Shocking. That means the great charter of freedoms in English.
Mayflower Compact 1620 (yes in the US but the writers were not native yet)
English Bill of Rights 1689...
Many compromises and legal decisions made on both sides of the pond.
You will find that Magna Carta was based on writings before that, and those had origins before that. The US constitution will aid foundation of something else in the future if we (humans) survive this ugly childhood.
I don't know. People who want liberty to do as they will but only for themselves. They freak out when they are not getting it all their own way. Sounds like the extremes of the left and right to anyone? Maybe we should just cull them...
I know a guy who is a constitutional conservative who has a +70k pension, owns a farm house on a hill with lots of land, a 170k R.V., nice tritoon boat, two trucks and a collection of classic cars plus a second house he rents. Good health insurance. He wants for nothing. He spends most of his time polishing his guns and living in fear of the day the Mexicans invade. He live in North Dakota.

The Left, unfortunately, expects the government to take property from one citizen and distribute it to another... "fairness", you know. And that's ALL wrong.
EVERYBODY wants what they want.
The Conservative wants to earn it for himself and therefore deserves it.
The Lefty wants property to be taken from another and distributed to him.

Originally, Federal tax money was to be spent only on the "general good"... that which would benefit ALL. Federal highway structure, Federal judiciary, national defense... all of those things. What went wrong was "wealth redistribution"... originally viewed as unconstitutional and illegal.
