You saw the benefit to sober up, and took the appropriate action - I applaude you. The individual has the power.....

Society does, however, have the power to act against those who would abuse their privileges and endanger others after the fact. That's what we do here in the US. We give people the benefit of the doubt and allow people to enjoy their privileges until they demonstrate that they don't deserve them.

Right now, we have the technology to disable a vehicle from being driven by require breathalyzers to be attached to each car's ignition system.

And of course drunnk drivers nor expectant mothers don't WANT to hurt others. I think it's obvious, however, that they don't have respect enough for themselves or for others to not endanger others and to limit their rights.

If only they were has as much self respect as you, right?

Fascism is about control over people to enhance the power of government.

Putting women who want to have children in a position to where they can birth children successfully, is just plain common sense....that is if people really care about the unborn child, or the newly born child....

Well, if I'm wrong about you being a recovering alcoholic, I apologize. But the example could apply to anyone with alcoholism. And, I DO know what I'm talking about re: alcoholism and it's recovery - I have an experience in my family...

You're right about the breathalizer - but what about the mothers? Do we lock them up when they're preggers? What about drug abuse BEFORE they're pregnant - and damaged eggs? Or the father for that matter - and damaged sperm? Do you see the unending path you are proposing here? It'll never end.

In theory, I agree with you about supplying health care for mothers, kids, etc. But, like the alcoholic, they need to want to take the help that is available....
