AMD or Intel for Trading with 4 monitors with eSignal for around 20 charts?

Agree. Even a non PC geek should be able to use the Windows Experience Index and see the HD is biggest bottle neck. Too bad MS got rid of it.

Isn't the difference between i7 and i5 just Hyper-threading? Not all applications support this.
Agree. IMHO, the other differences between i5 and i7 are minor:

Hyper-Threading is not typically found on Core i5 desktop chips. It is common on Core i5 mobile dual-core processors. All Core i7 processors have it, which means they all can handle twice as many threads as they have cores. While nice to have, the feature doesn’t have an impact on most software. Only applications specifically designed to take advantage of multiple threads will see a performance increase. The feature is most useful to people who run productivity applications, including photo and video editors.

The difference in price is small, so go for Intel. Take a K-processor which can be overclocked about 30%. K- processors are guaranteed by Intel if you blow them up. For less then 1.000 $ you can buy one of the most powerful processors. Take SSD disc and at least 16 GB of ram.
I had a quad core AMD that frooze when markets where moving too quickly. With my I7 ...K processor I don't have any problems anymore. But you can take AMD also, and save a little bit of money. I prefered to spent a few 100 dollars more and don't regret it.

Why people even ask such questions, I bet that all modern software can really handle all that.... erm... all modern hardware I mean, be it Intel or AMD as long as it have lot of SSD space and RAM and multicore CPU for all your needs here really. Don't worry.
