Unions aren't always the best situation for employees, but they're basically never the best situation for employers. Don't know who would be better off in this situation, but the employees felt that they were better off voting against it I guess.

Too many people out of work still, a labor surplus, so the employees were afraid. An old story.

it is often employers against unions not employees so naturally Amazon might cut the workforce if thye unionize due to higher costs.

They are working to replace most of these people over time with robots anyhow.
