Piezoe,
A well written post, but I respectfully disagree.
I think the disparity between the right and left is exaggerated. Imo, both parties do this to market their brand as different than the other guy. Most of that is accomplished through hyperbole and fear-mongering, largely to scare independents and consolidate their base. But the differences are really trivial, and hardly noteworthy. Most come down to taxation. The Left wants higher taxes, but the Right wants less (but they run up the deficit and charge it on the national credit, which is a future tax). That's it. Obamacare is a political football, but another redherring. The Feds already levy a national tax for social security and medicare. On the core issues of freedom, war, size and scope of Government, monetary policy, States Rights, there is virtually zero difference between Republican and Democrat. Both parties are big Government Statists. Both parties are HardCore Authoritarian. That's why the BIG ISSUES that speak to the core of individual liberty, freedom and prosperity NEVER get addressed by political heavyweights because the system is already massively top-heavy and run by the Federal Government, which is exactly how both sides want it. The dialogue is framed. It's a false choice. Both sides only give us false choices. You can either have a 25% Corporate tax rate, or 5000K less in mortgage deductions, and we're made to think one is a commie nightmare, and the other is "free market capitalism" at it's best. Think about it for a moment. Both Romney and Obama give lipservice to the ideas of freedom, individual rights, and capitalism all day, but never table or discuss any reform that would champion those ideals!!!!
Topics never discussed at any Presidential debate:
- End all bailouts, let Banks and business fail....you know? Capitalism??
- End all Corporate subsidies
- Abolish the Income/Corporate tax, get rid of the invasive IRS and wasteful tax code!
- Institute big tariffs against Chinda
- Deregulate the hell out of industry.
- Radically cut the size and scope of the Federal Government. Balance the budget NOW.
- Outlaw public employee unionization that's bled America dry.
- End all overseas occupation/wars, bring the troops home now
- Protect the border
- Begin deportation of illegals
- End the Drug War
- Repeal all Police State legislation, including the NDAA that both Romney and Obama support (indefinite military detention of American citizens without a trial or lawyer!).
- Begin massive entitlement reform, winding down these unconstitutional programs, and letting the States take care of their own. Cut off the parasites and U99ers.
- Return all other duties not afforded to the Federal Government, back to the States (education, medical, welfare etc).
Those are the real issues. They won't be touched because it means the Federal Government would surrender massive power back to the individual and State, and they loathe the thought of it!! Instead, we listen to debates about whether to use peanut butter or jam. Who gives a fuck. Rearranging deck chairs on the titanic!
