Quote from Magna:
It's infantile and offensive on a chat board to quote someone else and in the process purposely change their name (especially to something degrading) or purposely change the content of their post. If what they say offends you that much either put them on Ignore, or respond by countering their arguments. Unless, of course, you can't counter their arguments with rational statements. Many members have complained to me about the name changes along with the post content being changed on purpose, and frankly enough is enough.
Here's a few portions of ET's Member Conduct Rules which apply to ALL forums:
"...you are not to upload, post, or otherwise distribute or facilitate distribution of any content...that:
* contains excessive profanity or vulgar language
* is insulting or argumentative without merit, unlawful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory... uses vulgar language in the creation of a user name...
* victimizes, harasses, degrades, or intimidates an individual or group of individuals on the basis of politics, religion, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age, or disability"
Changing someones' name when you quote their post to something oh-so clever like Sphincter easily violates the above, and changing the content of their post to something insulting, harassing, or degrading (which was also regularly done) similarly violates the Conduct Rules. Besides being childish and pathetic. Anyway, the statement below is also part of the Conduct Rules which encompasses things possibly not covered or clearly delineated above (and please note the word inaccurate). This is ET policy which covers ALL forums.
"Elite Trader and its agents have the right at their sole discretion to remove any content that, in Elite Trader's judgment, does not comply with the Member Conduct Rules or is otherwise harmful, objectionable, or inaccurate. Elite Trader and its agents may suspend or ban users posting such content at any time without notice."
