already sorry I've opened a new IB account ...

Quote from moarla:

well, its not defending someone. but could you please give me a broker that has this thin gs to offer:

- trading from ONE account futures, options, stocks FOREX (ECN !!!)on markets in America, Europe Asia

-with decent or good commissions

-electronic opening for account for also for european customers

- API access

- login server in 3 places (USA, EUROPE, ASIA)

- many free or semi free tools to use

- many tools for trading and analytics

- one of the leaders in the business (not a crappy new broker thing)

- no lags on data flow like with other data servers

- online support always there (also during europe time zone!!)

- advisor account to handle more accounts at the same time (everything electronicaly managable, not needed to make things via phone)

- one of the best feeds for FOREX (belive me, i tested all)

- account possible in different currencys (changeble overnight every day iff needed, also electronicly)

- many account managment tools

etrc. etc. i cant remember now what else you can do with IB, but belive me, the supporters know what IB makes special.

AND: if you are looking only for the best comms for futures, then there are better ones like ADVANTAGE FUTURES (best comms for high volume). in every field you maby find someone better, but IF you need the whole package, then tell me another broker like IB.

please answer that or stay mute.

As I said a few pages ago in response to your other post:

Yeah, you're right. That's why I opened an account with them. Again. With apologies to Sir Winston, "It's the worst brokerage, with the exception of all the other brokerages out there."

Nevertheless, I stand by my contention that TWS has been designed by crackheads.

Anyway, now that I've solved the TWS mystery that inspired this thread ("bid" v "ask" v "booktrader"), it's time to move on.

Still not clear on what activity has been "busted," but, frankly, I'm too bored by this thread to care.

Bye for now!

Next Wednesday Jan 19 at 07:00 EST I will be giving an IB webinar. In our chat a small group is switching to IB and they are completely swamped by the complexities of IB.

You can register at the stockguy22.com website.

Christian Gross

Just curious, but are you the Apress book guy?

In case anyone began reading this thread on the last page as I often do see below tortoise is a nut:

Quote from JamesL:

already sorry I read through this drivel.

This is not the first time you've taken to the forum to bash IB. And then you go and leave 3 negative reviews because you claim that you, how shall I put this, are too stupid to take the time to figure out a broker's platform. You are simply just anothe IB basher with a little too much time on your hands.

here's a little kicker: you claim to have had an IB account more than 3 yrs ago yet this new thread says you FINALLY opened an account?

No quotes on your TWS.

And yet you supposedly cleared out and closed your IB account a month earlier:

Hell, here's a whole thread about your misadventures with IB and how you planned to leave:

This whole thread is nothing more than an attempt to trash IB. Don't let the man fool you - he's been down this "bash IB" path before.

Lame.

WOW. What a nutjob. Explains a lot. I never once had a problem understanding TWS. I just attributed it to not reading the damn instructions.

Now it looks like he's a damn liar

tortoise...I feel your pain...as I grow older newer things are sooooo hard to change to. Not that you are old or anything...

It's just that we get accustomed to our tools and the change is the HARDEST thing to do .....

I dred those days when I learn I must change a tool or the way I trade...I get so comfortable and face it trading correctly is boring and mundane...so when the inconvienence presents itself, I learn how lazy I have become...

Compared to me tortoise, You are taking this well. Some of the other traders here may actually understand and maybe they are trying to help you get through this...

ES

P. S. The second worst thing I know is a computer crash!

P.P.S. You are what I like to call an "Exacting Trader"...you are probably a very good trader or if not you will be...You could probably write the IB manual and website much better than they do...and you manically ask yourself "WHY DOES IT NEED TO BE THIS WAY" don't ya?...Keep on keepin' on and never give up...it will all come to you and you will look back at this and laugh or be embarrassed or both...

... and I haven't even taken a trade. No, just bushwhacking my way through the terrifyingly complex setup instructions for their Traders' Workstation. Good God!

Quote from cstfx:

Well, either way, thx. They helped.

Sorry for being cynical. I enjoyed writing the books and I am glad they helped. But Apress was a bleeding nightmare! They completely blew the process and this is why I am glad it is behind me. Sorry about that again...

Hey, I can understand nightmares happen. I just thought the books were good and am glad I can tell you so.

Are you out of that activity for now, or working on new stuff with a new group?

I don't know how their TWS performs, but so far, their IB Webtrader is slow. on several occassions, it downloads halfway, then it just hangs there. I have to hit refresh to restart the process all over again.
