All Time Highs

Quote from Bankedout:

I haven't tried it, but it looks like you can do it here:

http://www.prophet.net/scans/priceScans.jsp

You could also look for new 5 year highs at MSN with their screener:

http://moneycentral.msn.com/investo...Query=SV1QF3Z04F158Z&Name=Search2&Tickers=200

At least there wouldn't be as many new 5 year highs as 52 week highs. Try running it intraday. Otherwise you might want to look for stocks where the 52 week high is >= 5 year high to get a broader list of candidates to choose from with MSN.

Good luck,

Banker
What about stocks which have IPOed less than 5 year ago.
The other problem with 52 week list is it does not take in to consideration IPO less than one year.

You've been a help. I think I can work something out with the msn scan. Thanks alot. And thanks to the rest of you people as well.

Thought someone might like to look at these break out candidates that I gleaned off of msn. 5yearhigh and at least 500,000 shares traded friday.

TC2000 has several limitations in doing this. There was lot of discussion about this on the yahoo TC2000 users group a month or so back after Ed Seykota workshop where he talked about all time high strategy.

What limitations? I have a scan that gives me new highs every day with TC2000, and have never had a problem.

Are you talking of 52 week high or all time high.

Ahhh. I have a scan that does a 52 week, and one that does a three year. I have never tried an "all time high" scan. The one and three year work good for me. Thanks for the clarification.

For those maybe the Prophet.net screener will work? I also do a screen where 52 week % change = N/A at Multex:

http://www.multexinvestor.com/nscreen/builder.asp

That screening variable will list all the IPOs from less than 1 year. It also turns up some weird ones that are not IPOs.

Another way to find longer term highs is to subscribe to a chart book service like Mansfield:

http://www.mansfield-charts.com/

They have a little 10 year chart in the corner of each chart for every stock. Then you can see if it's a new high for at least the 10 years. If it's a recent or fairly recent IPO, it will show as well. Of course not as fast as screening though.

I was just pointing out the limitations of using 52 week. I have developed a special software to scan for ATH using tc2000 data for this.

I see. To get a broader list you can have 52 week high = All Time High. Then you can look at stocks which are basing etc. near their all time highs too. I don't know what kind of trading you like to do though.

Best of luck to you,

Banker
