For weeks and weeks prior to the news release and all the talk about apple intelligence has finally shown that through this weekends iphone 16 release, that all these analysts predicting that the people would upgrade to the pro max based on apple intelligence hype was very very wrong.

According to this article sales are not looking great over all....

Most were expecting a gigantic upgrade cycle for the iphone in this current upcoming year!!

It's just another yearly upgrade. The big boom will be if Samsung & Huawei can ever get the folding phone form factor to work properly at a reasonable price. Then Apple can copy them like always and sell it to the fanbois.

Its kinda odd to say it..but Buffet seems to have a handle on analysis of some of the tech companies and their make or break hype. He was also in BYD long before 10 other china EV companies arrived.

I gotta follow his trades more closely.
 
Love the Huawei Mate XT trifold and the Honor Magic v3 bifold. This is the next stage for smartphones. But the Huawei's $2800 and Android software are no go for me. Same with the Honor Magic's ~$1800 price point and non-USA availability.

So I believe Apple will come up with something similar in concept but in 3-5 years. Really, the software is everything, I like iOS better than Android. Bifold or trifold, price needs to be 20-30% higher than iPhone. Not willing to pay twice the price.

I just upgraded from an iPhone XS Max to iPhone 16 Pro. It's been 6 years so I'm one of those people who is upgrading due to lifecycle rather than any new ground-breaking features. What's interesting is that I'm paying less, $1250 (XS Max) vs $1170 (16 Pro). I considered equivalent even though at the time XS Max was the top of line whereas the 16 Pro is 2nd best. But the screen sizes are similar 6.5" vs 6.3".

I still don't understand why the Chinese handset makers don't create their own mobile OS. They could buy webOS from LG and develop it into what it should have been but Palm never made it work correctly -- I used to own the Palm Pre in 2009 and it was pretty good for the most part.

Android is a crappy OS for the backbone of a huge market. Its better than the Android 1.0 days when I used to use the HTC One back in 2008 but it just doesn't integrate as well as iOS.
