Quote from Whiz:
I was using Esignal about 6 months ago to trade Eminis and their quotes would often lag by up to 10 seconds several times a week, especially during busy periods...extremely frustrating. I'd open a position and my fill would be way off what i was seeing on the chart. I've sinced switched to using MyTrack with IB backup and don't have this problem.
Esignal is pretty solid for the US instruments but not very good for European. There can on occasion be a delay (more like the machine hanging for a moment while it calculates something) and this especially can occur at the most busy times. It depends what your chart set-up is. Having said that, I have not experienced any delays of the size Whiz has mentioned...
Where the setup is very basic with minimal studies (and simple ones) running, then there isn't any time delay problem. Go down to tick level and yes - it can occur. Also if you run too many charts of different instruments all with too many studies you have this problem.
I don't think it is the feed that causes it so much as the graphics front end. The feed itself IMO is very good indeed for the US issues. On the other hand, the programability of E-signal is very good indeed, and where the studies are disigned efficiently, they do not cause a drag.
The backtesting function is not as reliable as it might be.
The published minimum requirements to run the software really are minimums and not very good at that level. If you are going to run it you
need lots of memory on a fast machine...
Overall, I would say that it is a very good package and once you are aware how to get the best out of it should not provide any real problems.
