Alcohol is much worse for you than you might think

I don't know why with "sins" life always have to be black and white? How about the golden middle road, grey? Why can't we have just 2 beers or 3 cigarettes a day? I keep preaching moderation as a way of life, including everything, exercise, hobbies, sex and "sins". Even useful things can be harmful when overdoing them...

I drink radlers during the summer and they have 2% alcohol content. Nobody is going to be drunk on that. :)

There's definitely some truth to that. I stopped drinking for a couple of months last year and it was amazing how I changed. All of sudden, even the thoughts of social events that inevitably involved other people drinking (which happen virtually every day where I live) seemed borderline intolerable. And even if I did decide to make an appearance at one of them, I was always the first one to leave. Conversations that I could previously carry on with certain people for a long time all of sudden felt unbearable after a few short minutes.

Now on the flip side of that, the positive was that I obviously never woke up feeling the effects of the night prior. So there were definitely mornings when my wife was hurting and I was buzzing around the house with max energy. But here's the thing. I was never the guy that had a desire to keep the partying going all night long anyway. For me, I've always had an internal regulator that says "Ok, I'm about over drinking and socializing for tonight. I'm done".

So then I go home, drink 16oz of water, take a couple of liver supplements, and then take another 16oz of water with me to bed in case I wake up to pee and then still feel thirsty after that.

So for me, yeah I can say without hesitation that I can be pretty boring in social situations when I'm not drinking. And during that couple of months of going dry, I learned why exactly that is. What alcohol enables me to do is basically be conversational about uninteresting topics in real-time because that's pretty much what most people want to talk about. Topics like local news, politics and sports are just not topics that interest me very much and if I'm completely sober, I will be bailing on the conversation quick. But if I have a little buzz going, I will sit there for significantly longer and do my best to accommodate whatever the current topic is.
So you drink just to the point of making your friends interesting. I think you should let them know how you're going out of your way for them. :D

Despite ongoing gaslighting by the alcohol industry it is clear that alcohol acts as a poison on the body, provides no health benefit whatsoever, and is addictive. Addicts don't want to hear it though so they will rationalize their behavior in whatever way their cognitive dissonance requires. Perhaps this particular study is flawed, or perhaps it isn't, but arguing about it is just a distraction from what you already know...

MOSTLY true\ AFN,in areas like USA where we have plenty of good good water:caution::caution:[Sorry if some live in a Dem run city like Flint MI or Jackson MS where they screwed up the water supply for decades.] WE're so blessed with water/ its news when something goes wrong with water.
BUT in[non US] many areas where good water is a problem ;
wine is a healthy drink, within limits.

And alcohol is good pain killer.
And Vicks Formula 44 was about 44% alcohol/ great cough medicine. {Priced a bit hi to chug a lug that tasty stuff /LOL}
Good points mostly.:caution::caution:

Sorry, but I have to ask...Have you ever been so drunk that you did all that, and when waking up in the middle of the night you drink the 16oz water bottle, then peed into the 16 oz water bottle, and then drank your own pee later on in the sleep cycle? Teehee.

Nope! Do people really do that? :confused:

I can imagine that happening, sure! haha

Dude, I can imagine a LOT of crazy shit. You would love to party with me man. Give me a bit of a buzz like you suggested, and our conversations would NEVER be boring, even if yer straight-edge sober.

The people that I witness getting fucked up the most are the ones who have created a life for themselves that sucks so bad that it's worthy of that level of escape.

I am not sure just straight booze would cause someone to have the cognizance to pee in their bottle and drink it later. It would probably also involve some other compound on top. Maybe mushrooms? Not sure. But as I said, I can imagine a lot of strange stuff.

Hey man, while I have you here live in the Health/Fitness section...I know you follow a lot of ideas about supplements...A friend of mine who had a seizure ten years ago has been having a lot of short-term memory problems. For years she's been taking Ginko Balboa, because it supposedly helps memory. I have never noticed it helping her short-term recall. I think it's a BS supplement. What you say in your experience and observations in your circle of peeps?

Instead of relying on supplements, she needs to treat her short-term memory like a muscle that needs to be developed, which means that she needs to spend 15 minutes each morning building her short-term memory through memory-based games via an app such as Lumosity. And there should definitely be no smoking weed, eating gummies, or anything THC-based and counterproductive like that.
