You lost a ton of money on a "mentor" who didn't know what he was doing. Your take-away from this has been to demand that anyone who claims any sort of success produce "proof" of his claims. But this is appropriate only if you're looking for someone else to follow. Your take-away should have been that the only reliable teacher is the market, at which point you would have spent your time studying it. Instead, you've chosen to waste time wallowing in victimhood.

I didn't lose a ton of money because of that mentor. I deviated from his path before that. But when I got in touch with him I was clueless and since this guy seemed to REALLY know what he was talking about and his only "occupation" at the moment was as a trader, I trusted in him and that he knew what he was talking about.

What I wasted was the money I spent on useless books and the time I spent on useless studies. It wasn't completely useless though, since that's part of life and learning.

I'm not wallowing in victomhood at all and I take full responsibility for my own losses.

The point is that I would respect you and others a lot more if you were honest about your results or lack of results if that's the case.

It never even occurred to me to call for proof of anything from MarketAddict, much less demand that he provide a "P&L". Instead I thought How nice for him. This in spite of the fact that I don't think much of Al Brooks.

No and I don't have any illusions about this ever happening, but I've said multiple times now how I were open about my own P&L when I was actively trading and people sought my advice.

The OP claims that Al Brooks has been helpful to his trading, so is it unreasonable to ask if he's making money or not? I don't really care about his P&L, but it would be cool to know if it has actually improved his bottom line or if it is just that he FEELS it has improved his trading abilities.

You are innocently being judgemental,and it's most likely beyond your expertise to judge who is damaged and who is not..

Al Brooks spends too much time doing "other things" to actually be a trader or anything but a "speaker". Maybe he was a trader once and not anymore.

Some people spend too much time posting in internet forums, and navigating the web, etc, etc. to be much of anything. Some must be PhD students in an expensive university in a socialist country pursuing degrees in African Studies o Women Studies, or Physics or Math. Knowledge that they could obtain in a few months reading books from a library.

To the guy that compared martial arts to trading, to learn to fight my response would be to join fight club, instead of wasting time.
