The modified HA bars (3 colors and advanced algorithm) used on OHLC bars are very good, provided they are used as intended with the tips provided when originally introduced.

I would advice non TS traders to have coders convert them to Ninja and other platforms.

They now sit permanently on my charts.

Thank you to Piscuy for introducing me to them a long time ago, too bad I just recently paid attention to his suggestion.

These babies are valuable.

Someone please tell me why the Squeeze is useful.

I tested it a long time ago and I thought it was slow, crappy and to be honest quite useless.

However, there is possibility that I don't know how to use it properly so please someone chip in :D

Hi Anek,
First, let me thank you for very helpful information this thread bring to traders in the spirit of sharing knowledge and experience. I found this thread only a week ago and happy I did.
As for BBSqueeze indicator, from my following of John Carters free videos I agree that BBSqueeze is not a leading indicator, yet it may help to identify the chop/squeese/tight consolidation before a legitimate breakout happens, like a “Slim Jim” pattern for example...

Quote from Johno:

To be honest "go get a job" is the last thing I would advise anyone to do if they aspired to anything more than scratching out a living. If you wish to do well financially, and unless you have highly sought after skills/talents, developing entrepreneurial skills will be a key element of your success. With trading and any other business satisfactory capitalization is essential for the business to be viable and survive. Yes adverse outcomes[ being wiped out] can be achieved in trading as well as other types of business. I can guarantee this as I've experienced this outcome once in business [no stranger to witnessing marriage, home, company, cars and other assets gone ,as if by magic]- the lesson learned-" what doesn't kill you just makes you stronger" Centre yourself and get on with what you need to do to achieve your goals, and once when writing and trading options in 98 after years of rebuilding. I was fortunate to read about a Thai billionaire that lost everything in the crash,he was busily organizing vendors and street stalls people might see this as a huge step down for him , I saw it as his next step back up. It's surprising how quickly you can create wealth once you have faith in yourself and a broad experience base. If I had taken your advice at either of these junctures ",to just get a job",between child support and taxes, I would probably be living in a cardboard box under a bridge somewhere. Pursue your goals relentlessly and try not to make too many dumb mistakes. Trust me you will make some,we all do, but never just go and get a job.

I see where 99% is coming from but I think I agree with you, but I think it also depends on how the individual feels deep down inside. Everyone knows how they really feel, they just don't always show the truth. Some of us are more suited for the workforce and others are not, it is an individual thing.

When I graduated college I was presented with a very unique opportunity. When I graduated I had not found a job. My grandfather traded a little bit and he suggested that I come stay at his house and learn to trade futures instead of getting a job. I worked on it 24/7 for about 6 months and I was breakeven. I knew that this was a good result but I was frustrated because I wasn't making any money. Someone close to me would call me about every other day and suggest that I quit and go get a job. I think that they were embarrased that I did not have a job and was living with my grandparents. Eventually I caved in to their suggestions and entered the workforce.

Three years later I am here at work on a Saturday working overtime for my boss making 40k a year with a engineering degree. Most people love working where I do but to me it's pure torture. I am becoming average and I have no goals. I can't stand grinding out my hours and collecting a check.

I thought it was the job that I had so I decided to get one that I thought I would enjoy. I found a job traveling around the country doing virtual graphics for sporting events (virtual yellow line for football games). How awesome! No. Not really. The job was a lot of fun, but the company bs was even worse than the job before.

That is when I realized that the crap I was putting up with was probably consistent across corporate america and started thinking about what else to do.

I started looking on ET for trading ideas and kept running across comments about price action, price action, price action. A couple days later I ran across this thread... it was 1 page long. I wish I had ran across something like this in 2004. :D

Will I finally be sucessful this time around? I don't know... I hope so. But if I'm not I will just move along to my next idea on how I can claw my way out of this trap called a job.

Is all this done in vain and a waste of time? I don't think so. I have learned a lot (especially about myself). I think if 40 years from now I find that I am in the same place without trying to do something about it I would be very disappointed in myself.

This is a good thread I think from what I can tell. the strategies and effort Anek has expended here are sound. I believe he dispenses this advice out of a desire to stop some of the suffering from trading in ignorance. I am going to offer up wisdom from a different perspective.

My concern is that you waste time on this at all. You are 99% likely to lose 100% of the next 2 years trying to figure all this out. Seriously get out now. Don't think about this. You will lose a lot of time and probably a lot of money. Have fun bumming around here. maybe get a handle on a system to keep your retirement account in stocks during a bull market and cash/bonds into the bears. If you are desperate for a direction or money go away completely. trading is like going into a casino or getting enthralled with lotto.
this is all I have to show for 2 years of my life. Just a plea that you don't waste your time. Things can get worse from where you are now. You can dedicate yourself to learn trading. If you make it you are either lucky or have a rare combo of ego and balls that most or all here do not have.
I do not doubt the validity of the several successful traders on here. what you need to realize, new recruit, is that they most likely started from some sort of power position. they may have been involved in a prop firm, investment firm, been wealthy and board/wealthy and greedy, work a job to pay for their losses, or have a sugar mamma/daddy.
Please don't confuse yourself with one of those above. If you be desperate, need to give up your job, have kiddies, have wife, have a house, can't lose up to $10,001.99 without blinking, like the alky-hall to much, play in a rock band, want to be an actor, want to be an artist, think you are really smart just misunderstood, wonder how the world could have passed you by when you are so intelligent and wonderful, are paranoid, feel like life craps on you, well It does. Get over it. go to the bank, wallymart, Home Depor' and get your self a job in the paint department. Do a good job. Commit yourself like you would at learning to trade. Work your way up the ladder while being paid. You will be so much farther ahead of the other 99% of the losers that think they can stick it out in the markets and make their way. you may even develop some self worth and character out there in the real world.

this is you from the future talking. For most of us, this is but a dream. getting into this trading thing is like taking hits of heroin. You will almost certainly wake up up long into your future with a broken body, mind, and genital warts! Well maybe not the warts but you may feel like it. think about losing everything you hold dear standing several years down the line with nothing to show for your effort, trying to figure out what to do and how to start over. Is it worth it?

Loser

Well That was encourging. You should be a motivational speaker:confused:

It is no wonder that you failed at this. You need to read the book "Your Best Life Now" I feel sorry for you but I think it is a diservice to spread that kind of negative dribble around to bring down others to your misserable view of things. I'm sure Anek, Mark, Piscu and many others will dissagree with you on your views of trading.

Read the book, Then try trading again:)

Hi Mark1,
Thanks for amibroker Anek bars translation, and of course thanks to Anek himself, that why we call them Anek Bars. Now I just need to learn to make some steady profit too and all would be just wonderful :D

This is the text for the modHA2 paint bars.
