Quote from Sniemiec:

OEX days suck.

Consider trading futures where you can trade other markets not correlated with equities. Oil, Bean, and others had some nice HF/LF and moves thereafter.
Something to consider.

I would also like to see this. I've been trying to keep up with the chat logs, but I seemed to have missed the info on what exactly marks an important pivot area.

Here is a chart I saw posted in today's log. It says connect pivot#1 to pivot#2.

My question is this - why is "pivot #2" not 5, 12.25, 17.25, 22, etc? What are these numbers referring too? Why is pivot#2 the area marked 30 and not earlier?

Thanks for any clarification!

Pivots = a pivotal point where a peak or a valley was made. It reffers to swing high's & lows

Download, read and study the trend analysis pdf I uploaded.

It talks about basic trend identification and the terms that are mentioned in bugsbunny's reply and annotations on his chart. If trading this method you should be conversant with these techniques inside-and-out.

The pdf is by Dan Gramza. He's going to be at the NY Traders Expo for anyone who's interested.

Good Luck.

Glad to see everything is still going well in the channel.

I had to take a break because I was too focused on doing well and posting good trades (stupid) to actually just track price. Plus, I got distracted by the chatter (my fault again).

When school has been letting me, however, I still have been trading. Will definitely make it to the room next week.

Also want to say I've integrated porn into my swing trades... scaling out into first reversal or major s/r. Looks promising and is very easy to do. Never was confident in trading continuation moves before... but now for some reason it just clicked.

I just finished reading this thread, thanks to all that have participated.

Early on I saw an indicator posted by Anek called Price Action, I like it. The posted version works in TS and Multicharts, I may have missed it, didn’t see a version for NinjaTrader.

Here it is along with a chart with the indicator applied. The indicator has four inputs:
  • Lookback - number for bars to lookback fro the swings
  • Strength - strength of swings
  • DTDBStrength - ability to set the strength of a double top or double bottom, the higher the number, the “looser” the double top and bottom detection
  • TextOffset - higher numbers move the text further from the bar

Guy
