Paralysis by analysis? There is nothing to analyze! Facebook and Google are a major component of the S&P obviously. Investors are realizing more and more each day Trump is likely to win and the executives will no longer have a direct relationship with the U.S. government. It's called risk, something most stocks have to price in. Get real everybody! I don't want to see these crooks decimate anyone's life savings again.
 
What's the short interest right now? That's a measure of how dramatic the markets rise will be as all those shorts scramble to cover in the inevitable squeeze. . .
 
I'm not suggesting anyone should short the market (go from net long to net short), but rather protect the downside risk of their portfolio. If you don't have a fat nest egg, fuck an expected annual lifetime return of 5%. Why can't a long-term investor sprinkle in a couple 20-30% return years? This is a once in a...decade opportunity. :D
 
To get out near the top of a price turn and average back in 'systematically'. It feels like this top has been happening in slow motion which will only intensify the selloff.
 
I totally agree with you. I see a bull market that is very long in the tooth, an economy that is sputtering at best and numerous catalysts for a selloff. However, experience has taught me that the disaster scenario is seldom the winning play. The danger however is that it only takes one black swan to ruin you, so prudence is the only reasonable course here, even if it likely will turn out to be the wrong play.
 
Don't let the short squeeze fool you! The upward long-term trend channel was broken which means the most likely direction is still down. Wall street has been using the FBI as a willing participant to create headlines to cause major volatility in markets. Today is the last day to suck in suckers.
