Afghan conflict serious, 'deteriorating'-Mullen

Quote from drjekyllus:

Well if you are so convinced, by all means, wager your entire life savings and hope for the best. The election is only 3+ years away. What could possibly go wrong?

Obama is to much of a favorite,I would never bet 66 to win 33.If the odds 33 to win 66 I'd bet on it

A lot can go wrong, but betting odds are more a predictor of Obamas current standings then polls imo

Uh Oh...I wonder what Couric and Gibson will tell us about this? We'll probably hear about the fabulous Obama t-shirts that are for sale.

3-New U.S. deaths make 2009 Afghan war's deadliest

By Peter Graff

KABUL, Aug 25 (Reuters) - Four U.S. servicemen were killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan on Tuesday, making 2009 the deadliest year for the growing contingent of foreign troops since the overthrow of the Taliban in 2001.

Obama isn't 66 to 33. WTF are you looking at.

Removing the taliban regime was not a mistake. You have to give Bush credit for that. The ensuing nation-building exercise in afghanistan ( and Iraq) was equally clearly a big mistake. We continue to pay for it, both in money and lives.

We are trapped between pakistan's lukewarm support for fighting al qaeda and the taliban, the afghan's traditional dislike of a central government and the corruption and ineffectiveness of the Karzai government. Unless we are prepared to take over Pakistan as well and kill most of its inhabitants, I don't see a good ending here.

Obama made a decision to not only continue but to ramp up the Bush program in afghanistan. It's disingenuous to continue to blame it on Bush. It's obama's mess now.

We both know Obama will be the nominee, its currently 65 the last time i checked it was 66 .

So its bet 35 to win 65,big difference.I guess to Obama detractors every negative point means the world to you

Please show where I said you supported Bush invading Iraq. By YOUR own admission, you were a registered GOP'er about a year and a day ago. Do try and keep up!

Your evasion of the question as posed is duly noted.

More BS from ET's resident ass-clown.

Far be it from your pea-brain to understand that you can be registered with the GOP and yet, vote for anyone you wish during the National election. Duh.

Still can't find any posts where I was "cheerleading" for the GOP on ET, eh?

You are a CLOWN.

We both know Obama will be the nominee? We only have to go back 2 years to remember when everyone 'knew' Hillary was going to be the nominee. In the primaries she was going to win all 50 states. Really, she was.

The fact of the matter is Obama's numbers are in free fall. He is a complete failure in trying to get his agenda through. His two major bills(Cap and Tax and Healthcare) are stalled in Congress. He needs zero Republican support to pass these bills but he can't get it through because dems are in full-scale revolt. He has divided the dems. He has ramped up the troops in Afganistan which is only increasing the body count of American soldiers. In summary, BO is in way over his head and he is in serious trouble.

Face it, Obama is the Ryan Leaf of politics. He got a lot of hype, but the performance is awful.
