Advice on Buying New Monitors (Sore Eyes)

Got same problem, sore eyes, sometimes it translates into mind splitting headaches. My monitors are Samsung syncmasters 225 bw's at least 7 years old, HELP!!!!

Make sure your trading room is dimly lit or dark, curtains/ blinds drawn...

I have made a few adjustments and my eyes seem a lot better. I have lowered the brightness on my monitors, the brightness wasn't that high to begin with. The main change I made is I look away from the monitors on a regular bases and take a break after 3 hours. Before I used to stare at the screens for 4-5 hours continually.

My Ophthalmologist sent me links like this thru the years cause of eye strain. I started long ago with huge CRTs and black background, it was five years before I started noticing eye strain, had 16 screens in my office which increased the heat in the room and took away moisture, I went onto putting in a humidifier cause of this and desert living. He started me on rewetting drops every hour and now rewetting jell. The biggest problem with older monitor is the flicker, I replaced with flat screens with highest resolution I could find. Also he told me to switch from black background to teal but white is the best. Keep outside, outside, meaning lite so I use thick black curtains, get rid of glare. From those early years, have just 1-2 laptops going now, automated systems print out trades. All my laptops are 19" screens, yes a pain to lug around so I went with 17 inch when I travel, toss in backpack and ready to go. Anything smaller is tough to see a few opened charts and platform.

I recommend at least two screens, this is what I have one is a 32" I have mounted on a wall mount that can be moved back and forth, this one I use to watch training videos on while at the same time I can look at my other screen which is a 25", at examples of what the videos are talking about, But when I am not watching videos I can have 2 platforms up one on each screen, this helps if you suspect slippage. Both are HD screens and the graphics card is HD also, so the picture is clear and crisp. This helps with the eyes.
