According to the donkeys at MSNBC, we are now running concentration camps.

A law that's been in place since 1997. Suddenly the left has a problem with it. Another problem created by the left as they bastardize existing asylum laws. Now everyone is suddenly an asylum seeker. Congress has the full power and authority to change or abolish that law separating children from parents.

I don’t know about this policy being enforceable since 1997, but I do know Trump is the first President to enforce it on a large scale. I suggest you google presidential deference if you’re lost on what I mean by “enforceable.”

The root of all of this is the border wall. Trump is trying to use harming these children as leverage to get his immigration agenda passed, which is despicable.

You don't get to live here and enjoy the freedom and not support the military. Corporate welfare being gone, I'm all for it. Leeches are in all states and come in all strips and colors, so that's a non starter. Please my leftist friends, take out that moral compass and show us the way to the greatest humanitarian effort the world has ever seen.

Oh, I thought we were picking and choosing non starters in you hypothetical

Congress has the power and full authority to bring this to a conclusion today, right now. It is congress who is holding these children hostage, all just to have an issue to talk about during this 2018 campaign season. Now that is despicable, and business as usual for our congress. In the interim I'm just offering up a voluntary program as a solution. While our inept and indifferent to suffering congress does what they do best, which is appear to be doing something while doing nothing, the outraged leftist can open their homes to these poor, displaced people.

Who says entering the country illegally is the same as jaywalking?

Any crime that results in a parent going to jail results in that child being separated from their parent. Where is the outcry over it?

The law does... Visa overstaying is a civil offense akin to Jay walking, illegal crossing is a federal misdemeanor

Where did you get the incorrect idea that all civil offenses are no big deal, and then make the leap that entering the country illegally is akin to jaywalking (which you picked from a long list of civil offenses to find the one to convey an idea of meaninglessness)? There are many civil crimes that are quite serious. I think you need to go look up the difference between what makes an action subject to civil penalties and what makes one subject to criminal penalties.

Next, improper entry which is the violation assessed to illegally entering the United States:

(See Title 8, Section 1325 of the U.S. Code (U.S.C.), or Section 275 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (I.N.A.) for the exact statutory language - www.uscis.gov/laws/immigration-and-nationality-act.)

is
  • entering or attempting to enter the United States at any time or place other than one designated by U.S. immigration officers (in other words, away from a border inspection point or other port of entry)
  • eluding examination or inspection by U.S. immigration officers (people have tried everything from digging tunnels to hiding in the trunk of a friend’s car)
  • attempting to enter or obtain entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or willful concealment of a material fact (which might include, for example, lying on a visa application or buying a false green card or other entry document).
For the first improper entry offense, the person can be fined (as a criminal penalty), or imprisoned for up to six months, or both. For a subsequent offense, the person can be fined or imprisoned for up to two years, or both. (See 8 U.S.C. Section 1325, I.N.A. Section 275.)

Here is the part that might be confusing you. Improper entry carries with it, additional civil penalties:

Entry (or attempted entry) at a place other than one designated by immigration officers carries additional civil penalties. The amount is at least $50 and not more than $250 for each such entry (or attempted entry); or twice that amount if the illegal entrant has been previously fined a civil penalty for the same violation. (See 8 U.S.C. Section 1325, I.N.A. Section 275.)
Again, you might do well with brushing up on this so your arguments are based in fact.

The president is the person who can stop this today. Congress was designed to handle issues in a slow manner, this is why there are two bodies with different representation structures.

You should take some time to learn about your government since you have an interest in politics.

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children.”

So, you watched Pulp Fiction.

I am confused by what the objection is here, except to be able to scream "it's for the children."

What is ICE supposed to when it apprehends border jumpers? Just turn them loose if they had kids with them? That is the democrats' solution, they just would prefer not to have to say it out loud to voters.
