The major gold stocks. Will they ever keep up with the price of gold? Most are at levels seen 3-7 years ago despite a relentless rise in the price of gold. Does anyone see these stocks ever rallying? Surely there must be some value here despite your predictions going forward for the price of gold.

(As a side note, I am trying to get these stocks to rally by starting a thread noting how terrible they have been)
 
I've seen these mining stocks as leveraged plays on gold, which has stayed the same since early 2007, and probably earlier. I don't see how these stocks could really break out proportionately higher than the gold price.

There's a high demand in the world for gold, and there is a lot of mining going on. High supply -> low profits -> probably not the most exciting stock prices. I think gold will go up, which is why i like these companies. If gold prices stay flat, these won't do that well imo.
