Hi everyone
I only recently research for information on Trading Forums and wherever I read threads, a lot of them have so much abuse and reproaches in posted threads.
What are the people who abuse each other filling their minds with?
Do you know that any abuse is a sign of weakness and a poor self-image?
Do you know that somebody who feels provoked has a poor self-image?
I do not want to put down anyone but everyone using abuse in this forum should try to find out where all this anger and abuse comes from. Certainly not just a bad, non-profitable trading style.
Anyone wants to share thoughts?

A lot of it has to do with the level of moderation. If you want a heavily moderated and free board check out woodies cci - the only draw down is that its focus is rather narrow from a strategy point of view.
ET on the other hand is much more broad in scope but its moderated much more loosely. The unfortunate consequence is that you get idiots who come in with 100s of aliases and post junk non-stop. One psycho has been at it for years.
The result is that to counter the negative effect of these 'teaboys' on the quality of the board, a few take matters into their own hands and perhaps they themselves go too far. I've made this mistake recently myself. That's why I simply stopped replying to ayk, rubber and etf.
I think everyone would much rather have a board filled with just insight, gentlemanly debate/dialogue. The challenge is how to do this.
I've made my own attempt when I suggested that Baron implement a 'reputation' feature which would allow us to vote (for or against) a handle. This would introduce an effective although subtle peer pressure to police ourselves. I'd much rather have this than moderators being called in to make subjective quality calls on a thread.
Many said they supported this idea but I have yet to hear back from Baron (pm).
So what do you think we can do to improve things? How should we react when some moron shows up and starts spewing drivel nonstop? Use the ignore feature? Request the mods to be a bit more quality sensitive?

I wasn't going to reply because I think the subject is stupid but, I did really well last night trading the forex and it's slowed some, I'm in an up mood so I'll click out a few stanzas. Then I gotta crash.
the only real posting experience I had before "forums" was on a massive undertaking by Yahoo called Yahoo Experts.
This was not a typical message board.
It ran for less than 2-years before Yahoo scrapped it.
It had components and was multi-layered so that each poster was able to get a much more in depth interaction among the other members and posters.
there's never been anything like it before or after.
an interesting thing happend at the end. the forum moderators (employees of Yahoo) were re-assigned and the forum was left with no moderators.
only a handful of people were still on the forums because it was gonna be shut down.
but we all knew each other from months of posting together. not necessarily as friends.
suddenly there was no moderator and we could say ANYTHING we really wanted and really felt.
NEVER has there been a setting like that. for the last 2 week period everyone was able to say exactly what they wanted with no restraints.
we were thrown into a capsule together, or stranded on an Internet desert island.
well, from the deepest recesses of the human mind and heart statements proceeded. 90% would have been deleted by the moderators.
these were some of the brightest people on earth, as well, due to the subject we all registered as the "experts" in.
anyway, it was something you'd have had to experience to appreciate what humans are truly capable of on a mental/emotional/written interactive type basis.
personally, comedy writing is something I could do all day.
I was actually trying to do it professionally before I got into forex trading.
It's an entire science of structures that you need to study and discipline yourself in order to be able to produce actual funny material.
but it didn't pay. stand-up comedy was great too but it also didn't pay.
and I needed pay for whatever I was going to do.
When I post here it is for one reason. I write to a select group of individuals I've gotten to interact with on a friendly basis.
When I post I will also try to help beginners and advancing traders.
trading is really hard work and my respect goes to those who try really hard, and those who actually are accomplished traders.
However, there is the flip side to my posting where, when someone "posts on me" in a disrespectful manner, sometimes I will reply with equal force (counter-punch). sometimes I will use more force than they used, just to see what they got up.
a really hard shot will sometimes get the rat to run. other times it will end the matter.
If that settles it, fine. I may not run into that individual for quite some time. and they may think twice before so casually dissing me.
If it escalates and the poster who started the fight with me replies back, if I feel like I should or am just in the mood to, I'll hit the poster almost as hard as I can - to let him/her know to back off.
If the poster comes back with more abuse, I just pull the cork and hit with everything I can.
that usually settles it. they are knocked out cold.
afterward, if the poster is still harrassing me or dissing me, then I'll usually drop the issue because it is just turning into a pointless flame war, and I do keep Baron's perspective in mind about flame wars, so, that again, gives me a reason to just let it go.
I'm called every name in book here.
I have every cuss word there is used on me and in relation to how I trade and what I say in posts.
I am lied about, have my words twisted, have things said about me that are not true, have posters say just about everything about me that has no basis in reality. I receive death threats though seldom. I get hit with hate mail on a regular basis.
and all I really do is come to read and write some things about trading and get a few laughs from posters who post funny things.
It may come off like I am some forum bully. I do post a lot but if you search and read (as if you are gonna do this) every post of mine (with every previous ID I've ever had on ET and Moneytec) that either entered or ended in a flame war, you will clearly see that someone came over and >bang< posted some shot to me to start it.
I know that behind every post is a person who really feels the way they say in written word.
It doesn't matter to me if it is said face to face or online - it is still a person communicating it so it does have a degree of seriousness. In that regard it kinda reflects the real world. maybe even more real because people can say what they really want.
I've made money off of what others have posted here. I've written posts that if traders entered the direction I posted about they'd have made money.
Mainly, I guess, I love to write. And I didn't make money as a writer.
so I trade forex and I do make money.
If I could make money writing, I would much rather do that.
but, writing, there would be no way for me to wind up as a centi-trillionaire.
