About to get a Computer for trading...Opinions

wow, thanx alot for your input guys...Mainly im looking for a great deal, and the AMD is cheaper and has a much larger drive...And also i can upgrade alot down the road.

So, down the road what should i look at?

at least 1gig of ram
what kind of graphics card, because mine is just a 64mb radeon

gnome,

Not surprising to see the tech guys' Intel recommendation,
with it's history of dependability and justifiable market leadership,
BUT one wonders if "best reliability" continues to stand for RIGHT NOW
in chip development?

That is, AMD's best chip(s) now fully competitive with Intel's best chip(s)
for the most demanding of trading applications?

Well, I don't know about that. I've always been most concerned about reliability and not speed/price. So, like a good little consumer, I just did what I was told. Must say, though.... never had a system or hardware snafu with MetaStock or eSignal.

If you'll be gaming on your trading rig, you'll want something like the Radeon 9800 XT. If you'll not be gaming, you've already got overkill in the video card department. (My cards are all 16mb ATIs)
