In all honesty I don't know if I can answer that question. Since I infer that you are probably talking about a tragic situation in which I would have to make this decision. Such as making the decision to let one of my parents go. If they are brain dead then they are not coming back no matter how much I want them too. However this slippery slope you weave here does not apply to your theory on abortions being where a fetus is brain dead (according to you) until it comes out of the womb or whatever your theory is. The difference here is that if an adult is brain dead, there is no life ahead of them. In a fetus, it has its whole life ahead of them. So this is a terrible and quite appalling example. It also has nothing to do with the accountability issue which I have tried to stay close to. If my mother was in a terrible car accident, I am not accountable for pulling the plug on her if the doctor tells me she is brain dead. This example actually upsets me so I will leave it at that.
I'll answer your question: All 9 support Federal funding for abortions for poor women..,all nine support medical care for the children of the working poor, as well as the working poor...all nine support prescription drug care for the elderly. In fact, all 9 support top notch health care and benefits for all Americans, regardless of their ability to pay.
Now that I have answered your question, would you answer mine? How many of the Republican Presidential candidates surrort top notch health care and benefits for all Americans, regardless of their ability to pay?
And maybe one more question. How many Americans die each year because the do not get all the health care they need - care that might have prolonged their lives by many years, if not decades. And what is the Pro-Life Republican Party doing about it?
Unfortunately they are trying to make this country safer for you. Let's keep Iraq out of the abortion threads OK. I know most liberals like to change the subject when they can't find any more excuses for their opinions but could you at least try. Thanks.
For what its worth.....
1) I am against the Government abolishing abortion all together
2) I am for the gov't imposing criteria and rules and regs , especially when it comes to MINORS who, in highschool, cannot get two tylenol from the nurse without a not from the parent, but can go to planned parenthood for an invasive procedure called abortion
3) I am against abortion
4) I think that educating minors is key to stopping a lot of abortions
5) I don't think in the times we are in you can ever stop abortions or drug use in America
6) that said, i can't believe the venom that is spit at anyone who does proclaim to be pro life....i mean, on a strictly ethical ground , you have to admit that there is nothing wrong with wanting to preserve life.....same with those who are against the death penalty....they are preserving life and leaving the criminal's faith up to god to decide.....

If good intentions were results, we could all just vote for the most far-out liberal and live happily ever after. Unfortunately, there is this thing called reality that intervenes.
How much of the country's GDP would you devote to "free" health care? How would you ration it? Because I've got news for you pal, there isn't enough of it to go around. And when someone else is paying, people feel very free to go to the doctor every time they have the sniffles or anything else. Make them pay for it out of pocket and they magically find ways to cope.
The first thing that happens in socialized medicine--please let's call it by its proper name-- is that the government tells you which doctor you can see and how often. They tell you which operation you cna have, which one you can wait months or years for, and which one you can never have. Guess old Uncle Ernie will just have to deal with that bum ticker himself, but at least it didn't cost him anything, other than half his paycheck. Better to have the best in prenatal care for that tsunami of illegals coming here for the free care. Hey, choices have to be made, and Hillary Clinton is eager to make them for all of us.
Medical schools will have to be modified somewhat. Of course the government will be in charge of deciding who goes and what they are allowed to study. Don't want to waste resources on a lot of superfluous plastic surgeons, do we? As in all socialist utopias, there will be a few exceptions. Members of congress and the administration will continue to get first rate luxury care. Isn't that what's government's all about? Establishing priorities.
