Reading comprehension is not your strength. Robbing banks is ILLEGAL. Crossing the border into this country is ILLEGAL. You're trying to tell me these people are ok just because they got a job after they committed a crime. If that's true, then as long as a bank robber gets a job as a fruit picker or maid right after the robbery, we should let him go by your logic.

Point is the process for illegals is leave everything in your life behind (including children born in the country), take a 10 year ban in your country, then you can apply (if you have the fortune of being rich, have family ties, or are exceptionally talented). Not all immigrants have the luck of being born w/family ties to the US or in countries w/small immigration numbers into the US. Not all immigrants are willing to just marry for the convenience of getting a green card and would rather fix their status on merit alone.
As for changing the law (and I agree); yeah, good luck w/that, who's been calling amnesty on anything comprehensive immigration reform related and shooting down every bill? Who wants to end H1B visas (one of the few immigration processes that allow immigrating on merit)? Who wants to end family chain immigration and end birthright citizenship? Who benefits the most on guest worker/seasonal programs? Who pushes for scrapping catch and release and instead favors use of corporate prisons on the taxpayer's dime? Who shot down mandatory e-verify for every employer because "obama"?
You're the only one who thinks so.
Do explain. How is the illegal who is released still not here illegally and breaking the law? The only way to rectify his/her infraction with the law is to punish, then either deport or legalize. Short of that it's the exact same thing as releasing the speeder and having him speed off.
Not my problem. I would love to emigrate to Switzerland. If I tried to do it outside the framework, I'd be arrested and deported. I have no more right to willing myself to become Swiss than current illegals here who try to circumvent the system and assume living here.
So we get to ignore every law we want simply because we believe it is too difficult to change it to make it the way we like?
