Apple runing out of ideas, short term no big deal, longer term very big deal.
It's not like people were buying the iphone before for its innovative ideas. They were buying it because people secretly detest choices and freedom and just want other people to run their lives. That's what apple provides: it dictates everything on their devices and it demands worship in exchange. They're not a software company- they're a cult that demands total devotion and obedience. The ecstasy achieved through the unconditional surrender of their independent selves, being freed from choices and given prepackaged "perfection" is the reward of the cult.
Apple runs the racket in exactly the same manner as any cult- they offer to run your life for you in exchange for all your cash and there are plenty of takers.
So as long as the new cult leaders can maintain the rituals and the devotion of the congregation in its regular worship services (product unveilings), I dont see a problem.
