Apple and Samsung have settled their seven-year-long patent war on undisclosed terms. The move comes not long after a U.S. jury told Samsung to Pay Apple $539 million in damages over features copied from the iPhone. The president also tweeted about how Apple should move production to the U.S. in order to avoid being hit by his anti-China tariffs—and the tweet knocked the share prices of several Apple suppliers in China, including Luxshare Precision, Shenzhen Sunway Communication and Suzhou Dongshan, all of which saw their value plummet by as much as 10%. iPhone Manufacturing

How much more would an iPhone cost if Apple made them in the U.S., as President Trump is urging? 20% more, according to Bank of America Merrill Lynch, whose analyst Wamsi Mohan thinks Apple may give in. Apple has begged U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer to avoid more tariffs on Chinese imports, saying "it is difficult to see how tariffs that hurt U.S. companies and U.S. consumers will advance the Government's objectives with respect to China's technology policies." Apple Prices

Apple's newest iPhones are, again, its priciest ever. The cheapest model is the iPhone XR, which at $749 is $50 more expensive than last year's iPhone 8. The most expensive, the $1,099 iPhone XS Max, is $100 more expensive than last year's iPhone X. Apple Bill

Apple has paid off the $16.7 billion it owed to the Irish government because of an illegal tax break. The money is, however, being held in an escrow account while Apple's appeal runs its course. The European Commission decided in 2016 that Ireland had given Apple unauthorized state aid by allowing it to effectively pay less than 1% in corporate taxes. BBC

California authorities disrupt theft ring targeting Apple stores in 19 counties

California authorities have broken an organized theft ring responsible for stealing over $1 million in merchandise from Apple stores in 19 California counties, according to a news release Thursday, Sept. 27 from state Attorney General Xavier Becerra’s office. It said the heists took place in the counties of Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Alameda, Butte, Contra Costa, Fresno, Kern, Marin, Monterey, Placer, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, San Diego, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Ventura.
