I used to own at least one apple product. I have owned almost every single mac that came out since the original "1984" one. Today, I don't own a single apple product, nor do I have any desire to shell out extra money for one.

The one thing I have to give it 8 stars out of 5 is, they have terrific customer support. The army at their stores are well trained, friendly, and clearly enjoy their job. That is no small thing!

People walk away from an Apple store with their problems solved.

Their internet support is pretty good too. I called them with an issue on an out of warranty ipod and the guy was emailing me links to discussions and threads with solutions, not just official Apple written knowledge base articles.

Making smartphones, tablets and computers isn't anything extraordinary nowadays.
The only thing that makes AAPL money is its brand. As long as there are young stupid folks who are keen on spending double the amount they would pay with competition just for having something fancy to show off, it works.
But those fashion trends change very quickly. iThink sooner or later there will be another fancy fashion brand, maybe Samsung, maybe someone new, who will get the focus of the young people. And then... when the half rotten apple isn't fancy any more, what does AAPL have to offer except for overpriced products?

Some posters lack any common sense. You apparently are one of them. The cash that Apple has is real, they don't squander their profits on bad projects, and they have yet to move into a mature, high dividend paying type situation where they essentially cash cow their previous successes. The idea that eventually they will move to another phase at some point in the future really doesn't matter. When it happens it happens. A lot of really smart people buy their products, people who are successful and like quality products and don't mind paying for it.

They are successful. Deal with it. If they start losing market share, they'll have to make do with their war chest of assets and cash they made during the glory years. Oh well, try not to cry too hard for them, a lot of people will be rich off those years.

ps I have never owned an Apple product, never traded their stock, and have a
totally objective view on their business. Keep it real they've done great.

A lot of really smart people buy their products, people who are successful and like quality products and don't mind paying for it.

It is a marketing strategy to tell that people are succesful because they buy things from Apple.
If you are succesful you should have products from Apple, drive a German car (preferably a BMW or AUDI), wear cloths from River Woods, shoes from Timberland.... Do like they tell you you should do and show you are an idiot. Succesful and smart people are people who have an own opinion and don't let themselves being manipulated by smart marketing.

I wonder if Buffet or Soros have an Iphone, a BMW.....

But I must admit that Apple did big and succesful business. Question now is if they can continue this. I am afraid not. They have huge amounts of cash, but no real new products. They became an products upgrading company.

boy, get a self-consciousness that's not based on branded articles, but on something real. and don't take it personally if somebody speaks out the truth and spoils your fantasies.

by the way, almost all big companies are based on brands. Is Coca Cola any better than a no-name Cola? No! Just people are fooled to believe that and pay 2x or 3x for the exact same product, made in the exact same factory.

but if it makes you happy, continue throwing out your money on branded stuff! will do good to the stock prices and make my portfolio grow.
