AAPL weekly strangle

Quote from SCI new york:

And it wasn't a good bet because AH trading means sh#t to options, you can't trade or adjust the option positions so that point is moot.

Quote from ForexForex:

Good solution .... But based on hindsight. Should have been posted over here before earnings, the OP posted his idea the day before his trade.
Locking in AH gains has been posted here numerous times in the past.

The AH hedge was the appropriate action, but the point is that this is not the OP's wager on implied vol. The OP can correct me if that was his intention.

Youre on a planet of delusions. I have a great idea for you, start a fund and call it Hindsight Capital. The returns will be ASTRONOMICAL.

Vol was flat last week into this (week). The shares rallied 15, you think? Hindsight is a helluva drug!

If ToS paperMoney can be believed IV on ATM options (360) was just about 40% on July 15 (when I bought a 360/360 straddle). I guess they haven't updated for yesterday but on 7/18 ATM options (stock was 373) IV was 58%.

Nobody disputes that IV rose. ATM premiums did not. IV rises absent decay. You see it all the time in Q reports and biotech, etc.

By "vol was flat" i thought you meant ... well, that vol was flat.

Vol averaged across all durations rose 300bp from Friday to Monday... into earnings on a $10 move in shares. A combination of synthetic vol and the breakout. Did anyone make any money on the 375 straddle prior/post earnings?
