Apple has been forced to halt sales of its iPhone 12 in France after a watchdog claimed the device emits too much radiation.

The smartphone, which was first released in 2020, has a Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) that is above the legal limit, according to France’s National Frequency Agency (ANFR), which oversees radio-electric frequencies as well as public exposure to electromagnetic radiation.

The agency tested 141 phones and found that the iPhone 12 was more than 40 per cent above the legal limit for SAR. The ANFR called on Apple in a statement on Tuesday to “implement all available means to rapidly fix this malfunction.”

Corrective updates to the iPhone 12 will be monitored by the agency, according to the statement. If they don’t work, “Apple will have to recall” phones that were already sold, it said.

The agency consistently tests devices for waves capable of being absorbed by the human body, measuring against the European Union standard of 4 watts per kilogram.

Question: how can Apple fix this situation? I doubt it will repair these devices.
I rather think it will recall all sold devices and replace it with a different model, I guess.
This will be a costly recall action, IMO --> stock price will plummet... :)
And: I think now even some more models will be found violationg the allowed limits... in other countries maybe too...
Will the US now invade France to punish it? How can these frog-eaters dare to snub America like that!... :) ROTFL! :)
Now some "clever" Izrahellis will start a worldwide Anti-France boycott action and start of course also their obligatory fundraisers... Just lean back in your couch and watch... :)

Is it a malfunction problem or is the phone designed to radiate more EM radiation (perhaps
to make it more powerful / run faster)?
 
Cellphones are the real weapons of mass destruction....
I grew up with strict orders from my doctors to sit back 6 feet from the 19" color TV
my parents could barely afford...
Here we are staring at an 8 inch screen,2 inches from our face.
Kids are addicted and on this shit and average 5 hours per day.
Much like the tobacco industry,very "few" know the true damage imflicted,especially on a young childs developing brain and or eyes,and the chosen ones arent speaking up because their AAPL stock isnt fully vested..

An interesting possible evolutionary adaptation is currently underway; bone spurs “horns” at the base of skull from cellphone use posture.

Probably still too early to tell after just a couple decades.

Since you are talking about kids like you are eighty - (kids these days!!) - let me remind you that screens nowadays are not as dangerous as they were 30 years ago. We even had the danger of getting electrocuted if we dared to manipulate the tv from the back due to the current being stores in capacitors. Technicians had to discharge those capacitors before trying to do anything with them, that doesn't happen anymore with LED/LCD tvs, they are not that dangerous to the eye either.

On top of that we all have now all sort of color schemes to improve eyes stress, I even developed a theme for ET that makes the site all dark(it is published on the chit chat area), any white color is like a lantern pointing to your face, so try to use something darker and you can stare at it all day.

On the topic, If you spend 1K dollars on an IPhone 12, being the worst phone of the market by far, you deserve whatever happens to you.
