Where is your proof of this?
Hint: Well I did. And saw no evidence whatsoever that anyone stated hydroxychloroquine should not be used until medical studies are completed. If you have proof to the contrary then please provide a link to the post; I will gladly leave my thoughts to the author.
I think Trump should have culpability here. Not just in this case, but in the main. He pushed it from his bully pulpit. People bought into it. They took him at his word. He needs to own it.

There will always be those looking to cash in on some jackpot justice and no shortage of bottom fishing lawyers to represent them. This fact should not prevent us from expanding treatment protocols in these unusual times. There are people out there suggesting urine therapy to combat disease, specifically drinking ones own piss. Put me on my death bed being told all conventional options are exhausted and I might decide to take a double dose of whatever voodoo product is being presented and washing it down with a big gulp of pee pee. Who the hell knows at that point and the risk assessment should be the sole decision of the patient and their doctors
