Obvious answer, the students didn't fire him.
Actually, further reading, some of the students had complained about the "White Privilege" topic. That in itself would imply some of the students felt they were being indoctrinated when they were asked to write essays.
- Also, the teacher was hired to follow a classroom framework and then was fired for not following the classroom framework. Not a difficult issue to understand.
The guy was fired but I'm sure its a topic embedded in other classroom discussions such as social studies...a class that would be very difficult to ignore (pretend didn't exist) social issues in America.
