•U.S. Initial Jobless Claims "Unexpectedly" Rise as Companies Seek Cost Cuts

Quote from IanMacQuaide:

S2007S makes a very good point. Gas @ $4.00 would chop off a lot of green shoots, but Gas @ $5.00 a gallon would seriously damage our country.

I don't know about that, European pay much higher gas price, and average European unemployment is about 9%.

I don't want the US to turn into Europe. Not that I have any say in the matter.
Our criminal political element is bound and determined to do it, no matter who we vote into office.
And fwiw, our true UE #'s are about 20% if you count the terminally unemployed. 1 out of 30 Americans are on food stamps.
This is not fun.

Didn't "Da Gubmint" just announce it's over as of this coming Monday?

Yes. And this makes you wonder how stupid the auto makers are, or whether they did this on a temporary basis.

It's not going to end. There's no way they'll let it given that it's the only thing they can point to after spending 1.6 trillion dollars that is actually working as intended (payment delays aside). Given that it's only 3 billion dollars right now and that they've extended every other program, it'll be a miracle if they don't anounce an extension over the weekend.
