skip tesla, find a stock with way less risk
Tell that to the fellow who bought TSLA a year ago at $220 a share.

I wish I did that instead of listening to people on ET who kept telling me TSLA was going to crash and I should short TSLA. :banghead:

you are right that it can make big profits but by now its already skyrocketed and i think theres a bigger risk. but this is not to say that u cant make a killing. there ae other stocks out there that can make you a lot of money ( although probably not as much as quick that tesla did ) u just have to know where to look.
 
I think this merits a bit of elaboration...IV crush is irrelevant if held to expiration. Op mentioned exiting after earnings but before expiration. IV frequently drops after the earnings announcement, so a big crunch could adversely affect the position. Also, your theta decay on this position would be horrendous.
Sim paper trade is why.
