The relevance of blowback certainly applies to the Mujahideen who eventually became the Taliban (long after American support was withdrawn). This is not the case for the Free Syrian Army. They were and are now, mostly Al Queda. Our Government knows this. This is not unintended consequences. This is straight up working with, aiding and arming Al Queda.
