A Serious Question about an ET Moderator

Dear Dotslashfuture:

I thought I stated my case pretty clearly but I have to clarify something for you because I think you may have mistaken my call for Hapaboy's banishment as antigay. It was the vile rape nature of Hapaboy's imagery I found so offensive, not that he merely has homosexual fantasies. In any event I would prefer he keep that to himself even if expressed benignly. And jeez, I guess I opened a can of peas when I asked him what he dreams of. I did not mean it so...literally.

Please don't be threatened or angered Dotslashfuture, I did not intend to voice an antigay bias.

But I am surprised that someone with a public website and in conservative old Florida would equate antigay with anti-Americanism. One would expect the converse!

Again, I think you misapprehended matters but I apologize anyway.

You know what, forget banishment and expulsion. Life's too short. Who really cares! Let each community member decide whom to listen to and whom not to.

to my knowledge dgabriel has arranged "wild"´s banishment from ET on the request of KymarFye - for the crime of cutting & pasting anti-war opinions of European philosophers in the ET chat.

if i´m not mistaken "wild" was only trying to intelligently/ironically counterbalance KymarFye´s and OPTIONAL777´s habit of using anti-gay and anti-French/German foul language and constantly posting blatant pornographic BS and links to porn sites in the chat room.

I've never sought to have anyone banished.

If I really despise someone, I just put him or her on ignore.

Given both hapaboy's and msfe's comments (both of whom I agree with), I am even more convinced that dgabriel's merit as an objective moderator is seriously questionable... we need more moderators like Babak and fewer like dgabriel, imho...

... and, while I'm on the subject, just to be clear, I've never posted anti-gay or anti-French/German foul language. Nor have I ever linked or posted "blatant pornographic BS and links to porn sites."

I have, however, frequently criticized the presumptuous, prejudiced, wrong-headed, silly, and just plain stupid material that msfe likes to post - as here, for instance. His usual reaction has been to respond with puerile mimicry or some other pointless attempt to insult me, or simply to disappear from the discussion.

I actually liked having wild around, for the sake of practicing my German, though he frequently got on my nerves, and though I did temporarily put him on chat-room IGNORE, and I can't say I miss him very much - maybe because msfe has been filling in for him. In fact, it's been such a smooth passing of the baton that it made many suspect that msfe IS wild. I confess that for my own part, I bought msfe's claim that he's some Swiss guy.

Anyway, my general feeling is that without anti-American ideologues around, we wouldn't have anyone to argue with - and what fun would that be? It is a shame that their arguments, sources, and tactics tend to be of so weak, but you play the cards you're dealt...

And, finally, I just don't get this hapaboy-dgabriel feud. It does no credit to either of them, IMO.

Okay, at this point I've now spent way too much time on this one - almost ten minutes.
