A review of Timmay's hedge fund book

Nah...dont hate you Tim. You would have to do something to me to deserve that status. I just dont particularly like you and dont see anything of value that you offer. But it's not hate.

I saw Newton's name .......his site kicks ass....I respect his opinion. Thats it.

Quote from TimothySykes:

Wow, you're a true hater. To go through a list o 150+ positive blurbs and find the one negative one. I commend you, you are truly my greatest hater.

But, even you hater #1, have to admit that the 99% positive book review ratio is pretty good (I'll publish any further negative reviews, if and when they come in)

Quote from LionTrader:

O.k. this is entertainment.
Bunch of endorsements from people who don't trade but rather blog, or worse, teach.
Wow, fucking wow.

One quote,

"You're only as good as your last trade"

With that said, I hope this thread dies soon.
It is too soon to be entertaining circus clowns.

Uhhh more than 1/2 of these people are traders. You missed a couple of important ones--let me just highlight them for you:

“A clearly-written account of a natural trader coming of age, a Catcher in the Rye for traders. Highly recommended if you want to be or understand a trader...”

-Aaron C. Brown, Executive Director at Morgan Stanley, Author of The Poker Face of Wall Street (he was in charge of Risk Methodology at MS)

“Tim captures the mindset and drive of the at-home, chart-based stock trader…you'll find this book eye-opening...”

-David Jackson, Founder and CEO, Seeking Alpha

“A surprise for veteran or beginner…Mr. Sykes exposes a lot of himself which allows you to see the development of the trading mind…”

-Online Trading Academy

“A clear, unbiased view of trading…many lessons…I highly recommend it…”

-Tom Alexander, Partner, Alexander Trading, Savannah River Capital Management

“A professional trader myself, I can totally identify…I find it absolutely inspirational…”

-Grace Cheng, GraceCheng.com, Author of 7 Winning Strategies For Trading Forex

“Entertaining, insightful, and educational…it’s a great read…”

-Jame ‘RevShark’ Deporre, President, SharkInvesting.com, Author of Invest Like a Shark

“An interesting story that any trader will appreciate…”

-John Boik, Author of Lessons from the Greatest Stock Traders of All Time and How Legendary Traders Made Millions

“A book all aspiring traders should read. The mental elements of trading described in Tim's story, both positive and negative, are ones that all traders experience...”

-John Forman, Author of The Essentials of Trading

I think I'll just repost some of these quotes from time to time whenever my haters start spewing all their uninformed crap

Quote from TimothySykes:

.....I'll always stick to Penny Stocks because they have the easiest charts to read ......

Tim, what is your approach for "reading charts"?

Quote from austinp:

Tim, I am absolutely blown away. That list of reviews is incredible. I cannot believe you actually ferreted out all those people, sent them tear sheets = prereleased copies, followed up for positive responses and listed them in here.

The amount of time you have invested in this project is obvious. Your enthusiasm for the finished product clearly spilleth over. For all of that you are to be commended.

I'm still never gonna get around to reading it myself, just won't happen. But I do sincerely wish you well on the project. In the past (around your age) I wrote five self-published books on a topic totally unrelated to trading or markets. I wrote the rough drafts, edited finished copy, did the photos, cover, layout and all marketing myself.

Made a significant sum of money, sold 1,000s of copies retail and then sold the reprint rights to someone else. Formed my initial grubstake for trading, among other things.

Signed hundreds of copies for people, posed for pictures with them, etc. To this day I still get letters from readers with photos included, nice notes of appreciation. The ego part of all that is fun, for awhile. Enjoy the brief mini-fame. In no time at all it fades away.

Again, my sincere best wishes for your success in this project. Those who wish to read it will, those who have no interest cannot be dragged by wild horses to turn a single page.

Thanx, def. a quality post, very rare around these parts.

Tim, what is your approach for "reading charts"?

I like to play exponential gainers, both long and short. Would love to be able to ride them long, but I'm just a much better short seller. See the charts of SCON and CRDC for my kind of plays. Lots of volatility, liquidity make it so you don't need perfect entries or exits to make tens of thousands per play

Quote from EPrado:

Actually....if I were on an island and all that was there was sand...Tim's book....and a coconut.....I would take the coconut and smash myself in the head with it until I was unconcious.....then when I woke up I would repeat the smashing of my head again. That would be less painful than ready his drivel.

Once again you make a good point!

Quote from austinp:

<i>"my fans will buy it and my haters will be forced to come around and satisfy their curiosity"</i>

That accounts for a fractional blip of people... the rest of us are too busy reading stuff that will actually educate, entertain or both.

Got a couple of new books today on rearing honeybee queens, it's quite a process propagating them. Not sure I'll ever delve into the artificial insemination process to keep strains pure, but ya never know.

So many good books = magazines to read, so little time here on Earth. Such a shame.

LOLOLOLOL

aaah Dave Goodboy also wrote a hugely flambouyant review for Trendfollowing too!

hmmmm

Yeah let me override my common sense and buy a book because these clowns recommend it....even though there is a good chance they didn't even read the book at all, since everyone knows it is a professional courtesy to write rave reviews about every book you're asked to...since they may need you to write them a rave review one day...

Ya know...I actually LOST respect for Tom Alexander because he wrote a "blurb" for your book. I swear to God. I actually liked the guy til just now.

The ironic thing is that everyone who hates Tim and continues to posts on these threads is raising his visibility and thus likely increasing his book sales. This of course puts more money in his pockets. It's in Tim's best interest to respond to every attack to keep the threads fresh and make more people curious to read his book....
