A religion of peace which worships the same God? not per ISIS and Burke

I would wager man has killed more people in the name of Christianity than every other religion combined.

Personally I wouldn't think that problem is the historical Jesus expected.

Or I should say that around 2,000 years ago, the living followers of Jesus would be truly lucky if not be killed.

The current Pope seems a rational and progressive Christian, trying to set a moderisation example for improvement, civilisation and humanity of All religions.

Some conservative opponents naturally would say something opposite against him! LOL

It makes sense, but the issue - socially, not necessarily what the Vatican's employees state-, is more about how today's Islam compares to other religions in today's state (I care little about Christianity or Islam btw, and what god they think they worship, just thought i'd answer that part).
Crusades and Inquisition are a thing of the past for christians - hopefully it will remain so, but religious tensions sure seem on the rise.

No Muslim has ever tried to convert me. I have had a few Christians try to convert me (one even tricked me to go to a play with them and at the end I realized it was the church parish and a bunch of "heathens" in the audience). That's the deep south for you.

imo, the dynamics has been, in the western countries many Christians have been losing confidence/faith in terms of numbers and growth, especially when comparing to Muslims.

It might be a natural trend that is irreversible, due to some vital social factors including lacking supply of food/water security https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunger , secular education https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secular_education and the Internet.

When worldwide Muslims can one day be provided a similar level of food/water security, secular education and Internet access, the numbers and growth of (conservative) Muslims would be naturally stablised or even diminished.

Just simple human nature! My 10 cents!

Jesus' theory for "Love your enemies" could be rightfully correct, not only politically!

The total amount for all the above aids in order to provide worldwide Muslims quality food/water security, quality secular education, and quality Internet access could be relatively insignificant, when comparing to any heavy investment on advanced military weapons and armies, through cutting humanity aids!

World's Muslim Population Will Surpass Christians This Century, Pew Says

April 2, 2015

http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-...will-surpass-christians-this-century-pew-says

Islam is growing more rapidly than any other religion in the world, according to a new report by the Pew Research Center that says the religion will nearly equal Christianity by 2050 before eclipsing it around 2070, if current trends continue.

"The main reason Muslims are growing not only in number but in share worldwide is because of where they live," Alan Cooperman, Pew's director of religion research, tells NPR's Tom Gjelten. "Muslim populations are concentrated in some of the fastest-growing parts of the world."

The report says that by 2050:

* In the U.S., Christianity will decline to claim two-thirds of the population, instead of the more than three-quarters who claimed the religion in 2010.

* Islam will supplant Judaism as the second-most popular religion in the U.S.

* India will displace Indonesia as the home of the world's largest Muslim population, even as the country retains its Hindu majority.

* In addition, Pew says, "Four out of every 10 Christians in the world will live in sub-Saharan Africa."

In addition to presenting raw numbers and projections, the Pew report looks at the demographic trends that are fueling the changes.

One factor is the wide range of fertility rates, with only Christians and Muslims currently higher than the world average fertility rate of 2.5.

There's a lot of violence and compassion in all religious texts.

Why Muslims are the world’s fastest-growing religious group

By Michael Lipka and Conrad Hackett

http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tan...e-the-worlds-fastest-growing-religious-group/

The expected growth of Islam around the world is perhaps the most striking finding in the recent Pew Research Center report projecting the future of religious groups. Indeed, Muslims will grow more than twice as fast as the overall world population between 2010 and 2050 and, in the second half of this century, will likely surpass Christians as the world’s largest religious group.

Islam Growing FastestWhile the world’s population is projected to grow 35% in the coming decades, the number of Muslims is expected to increase by 73% – from 1.6 billion in 2010 to 2.8 billion in 2050. In 2010, Muslims made up 23.2% of the global population. Four decades later, they are expected to make up about three-in-ten of the world’s people (29.7%).

By 2050, Muslims will be nearly as numerous as Christians, who are projected to remain the world’s largest religious group at 31.4% of the global population.

Perhaps the violence part is for our reflections - Why people did something like that.

The compassion part, is also for our reflections - Why we seldom do something like that! LOL

When any kid has the options of choosing a comic book or a holy book, (s)he naturally knows which one (s)he prefer. Just human nature!

No need to produce bullets! Juts comic books!

Sex abuse survivor Edward Delaney tells UK inquiry he was kidnapped from Britain as a boy

London: "The word is kidnapped," Edward Delaney says, of his being sent to Australia as a seven year-old, condemned to a boyhood of horrific abuse.

On Tuesday, he told Britain's inquiry into child sexual abuse that he recently burnt his British passport, in fury at the injustice done to him - and to his parents, who had asked for him to return, but were fobbed off with the lie that he was in a better place.

Mr Delaney, 67, from Melbourne, was born in England to a single mother and lived in an orphanage while his mother saved money for rare visits from London.

But the orphanage signed papers to send him to Australia.

"I was purely and simply kidnapped out of a country, taken from my mother," he told the inquiry. He was one of thousands sent in the post-war period, recruited by Anglican and Catholic institutions such as the Fairbridge Society.

Many were placed in Australian institutions where physical, sexual and psychological abuse were a daily part of life.

At the age of 10, Mr Delaney was placed at the Bindoon Boys Town orphanage in Western Australia, run by the Christian Brothers.

Within days, he seriously considered killing himself - although his first suicide attempt came two years later, when he swung out into a lake intending to drown, but ended up impaled on a tree root.

Make comics! Not bullets!

It's kinda catchy.

Several years ago, I watched a documentary film about why the poorest parents, living in mountain villages, sent their kids daily to their day school where extreme Islamic doctrines, that they didn't like, were taught.

The parents said because there was the only place where their kids can have food to eat daily, as they themselves cannot afford any food.

And the school was also the only place where their kids can learn reading, as free education at no fees!

The school's resources were actually supported by extremists, to provide free food and education for fulfilling their purpose and plan. Selecting the smart kids for further study by brainwashing them to become new recruits as extremists.
