A question about ads

So I've been running an ad-blocker on my desktop browser for a little while. I've started white-listing sites I support like ET but I'm not clear on something.

So I disable ad-block and GhostScript for ET and I see banner ads. If I click on a banner ad I get a new tab with the website of the sponsor. But the advertiser site is not white-listed.

Does ET get credit for the click or must the advertiser site be white-listed as well?
