Neo-con cult started as far back as Nixon with Erlichman (Hank Paulson's first boss), Halderman and other assorted convicted felons. It would be incorrect to label Reagan and even Nixon as neocon, although some of their lieutenants were. Reagan pulled us out of a slump, no doubt about it. Carter was a good man , but a weak president and just could not get it together.
