I have been around the academic block enough to understand that 90% of the time black people get degrees and accolades that are not deserved when compared against everyone else. I know a winner of 'black engineer of the year' in the united states, the guy is a buffoon. The people in gov't know the charade but go along with it anyway because if you dare point out the obvious, it would be career suicide.

I posted long ago on how Obama is not nearly as intellectual as advertised, and he borrows heavily from Clinton's style. It's obvious he is a self-important figure, I would not care if it were not for the fact he is a leftist.

I had always thought that affrimative action meant that blacks were allowed into schools even though they were not as qualified as some whites were. I was ok with that.

I also figured that they were probably given extra help in schools, maybe a little grade scaling here and there, maybe some extra time with the teacher after class etc. I was ok with that too.

I had no idea that they let people into great schools and let them sit around and do nothing. It's appalling.

charlie rose is very good and interesting to watch. He can engage the most stoic of guests..

I agree Buckley was smart, very smart...

I was just pointing out I had a few professors who also acted like Buckley. (and Buckley was not the only guy to act that way - its sort of a stereo type used by those who want to be seen as professorial.)

The act is sort of modulated now... but you will still see some guests go for it now an then. Particularly on Charlie Rose.


Its very amusing to me. I think I may have to use it as may hair gets a little more grey. I will put on a tweed jacket keep my upper lip very steady and picture dan ackroyd in first part of trading places.

And that's the assessment of a few people he actually "treats." Perhaps his skills are more accurate and better utilized when he puts them to use on people has has never actually met or spoken to? Yeah, that's the ticket.

It seems to me that the "good" doctor is an attention hound seeking notoriety by whatever means he can get it. Always a good quality to look for in a psychiatrist.

Although there were a few favorable comments, probably posted by family members, I found these two somewhat critical reviews rather notable and consistent with my own long-distance assessment of the "good" doctor:

"This forum is amazing! I wish I had read these before I went to this irresponsible and immoral doctor. I had the same experiences! He also charged me FULL PRICE no matter how long I was in his office. I have other family members who went too and he told them the same things, and wanted to put us all on the same drugs. He's a one trick pony. Its like he's memorized a script. I as well had a horrible experience with this "office manager" his wife. I cant believe someone else feels the same way! She is rude and heartless and frankly the two of them should be sited for unethical business practice. No wonder why he is the only doctor in his practice, because he is a scam artist, a major liar. Gosh, I wish I could get into details about this on here. You wouldn't believe!The last thing I can say is that he broke the doctor-patient confidentiality. I have never had this happen in my entire life. I think the worst thing about him is that he had me believing that I could trust him. I was in an extremely vulnerable place in my life and he completely took advantage of that. Shame on you Jory Goodman!"

By the way to defend Obama on this one.

Narcisicism is the buzz word of the oprah p.c. crowd...
When hurled at successful people its usually hurled by jealous people with an inflated opinion of their own self worth wondering why that person who achieved something seems confident fulfilled and charismatic.

Obama, Woods, other athletes... These guys have achieved... they kicked ass. What is not for them to like about themselves. They get to walk on a different plane of existence. They nurtured their talent, executed a game plan and kicked ass.

In my opinion - if you are top 100 in the world in something... you have a right to think you are better than the rest. If you are president of the United States. You kicked every one of our asses in realizing our stated 4th grade goal. .... why would I expect him or her to live like an average person.

For instance do we really think Tiger woods goes to therapy thinking he is all screwed up? should he feel that way?

next time someone calls a succesful person a narcissicist - wonder if he or she is part of the "get something for nothing from the government crowd." you will soon see part of the invidious pattern. I am seeing it happening in school to one of my sons. he does well in a few things... but he does not want to stand out so his friends like him.

When I was young the middle of the pack wanted to be like the achiever.
 
I had assumed, coming from a shrink, that it was narcissism in a clinical sense that was meant, and not justifiable pride.

Though perhaps understandable for Saddam or Chavez... not acceptable for the POTUS.

If Bush had not been so egocentric, perhaps America would not have been saddled and infected with Obama.

Besides, there's a difference between feeling proud and successful... and the heightened hubris of pathological narcissism.... especially in one who will negatively impact hundreds of millions.. if not billions.. of people... all for his own self-aggrandizement.

the problem was that Bush was a dope controlled by Cheney and his Dad - whose purposes were to enrich others at the serious expense of america.

The problem with Obama is the same thing only he is throwing in a bit of wealth re-distribution designed to take from the suckers who work for a living.

Nothing to do with their egos - its how they were raised.

I agree that is how it was meant.

To me that is the joke of the whole thing.

A shrink looking at an achiever and saying be more like me -- a useless unknown shrink who probably "heals" people more slowly than time alone would heal that same person.

using an overused words to make average people feel better about people who have confidence because they achieved something.

don't get me wrong. Many people have inflated self worths. But, i believe, most of time the real narcissists are the ones hurling the term.
