A planet with no money

Quote from DT-waw:

There's no such thing as "inherent greed" in people. It depends on psycho-socio-economic conditions. It is veeeeery simple to understand.
Are people greedy of air? Hell no, because air is abundant.
The same way if cars, energy, food, clothes, houses, etc. will be abundant, in far more supply vs the demand- people will not rush after them.

the people who call no-money economy as delusional utopia or "impossible" will be the first in line to enjoy the benefits when it will come.

same with airplanes, etc. first they laugh at it, then they use it.

Schopenhauer said it best: All truth passes through three stages. First it is ridiculed. Second it is violently opposed. And third it is accepted as self-evident.

What you are suggesting is planned distrubution of resources, a.k.a socialism. It has been tried over and over and for the reasons already stated in my previous posts, it ends in totalitarianism and collapse. Hitler, Marx, Stalin, Lenin all sold the myth of abundand resources that can be distrubuted fairly with the right planning ... look what happened there.

you're totally wrong, drEvil.
There was never a time in history when society had all material things they wanted/need.

Today, it is technologically possible to provide all humanity enough of:
-energy
free cold fusion, zero-point energy or cheap solar/geothermal

-housing (today there are 18.8 mil. vacant homes in the USA!)
-transportation
maglev trains inside vacuum tubes to eliminate air friction and get a 4,000 mph speed. combined with no cost of electricity = almost at to cost for the passangers/transportation of goods over long distances

Things like drugs/medicaments are totally useless- natural food works much better and is 100x cheaper ;-)

the monetary systems is very close to its end.
the only way to keep the status quo is to print the currency like crazy AND start a major war- all eyes on Iran and israel.....

How then are you going to stop the HUMAN BEING(s) charged with distributing energy, homes, food from being corrupted?

Quote from bearice:

I think there are millions of primitive/tribal people who hunt to eat or get food from the forest. These people do not need money to acquire food, water and shelter. They live in a money-less society in this technological-advanced world.

Key words are primitive and tribal. I'll be honest when I say I'm terrible at farming, I wouldn't even know how to desalinate or find fresh water and I can barely cook in my microwave. However, I am skilled in mathematics but in a world without money I wouldn't be very helpful to anyone. If I'm stuck in some math lab writing formulas or code for computers who's appreciating my work? who's giving me "obs" or any other arbitrary name for money? Some sort of benevolent overlord that would never exist. This entire proposal would set humanity back to a time of hunting and gathering or at least hundreds of years to barter economies.

Also to the guy above me, you perfected cold fusion? Do tell, I'd like to invest some of my money (obs) in that.

( I wasn't just picking on bearice his post just seemed to personify the moronic attitude of the "no money" camp. )

Quote from nitro:

Cuba is intensely poor because it has no natural resources outside of tobacco and sugar.

Cuba practically paradise for agricuture, fishing, lumber, mineral wealth, and offshore petroleum. However much of it is not developed.

(Maybe not so much going forward, due to the oil spill)

I'm being serious, all collectivists should get together and either buy a large isolated piece of the world and be given it. They can plan, plan and plan their distribution to their hearts content and leave us freedom loving individual to deal with the horrors of our free markets and laws protecting the individual. They won't need to worry about us though, they will have their very own Utopia and best of all we won't have to waste all day trying to explain to them why it won't work... they can find out for themselves! Or who knows. they may evolve into Saintly creatures and live the Utopian dream. Good luck to them.

+1. Or, I still think Sanaz should move to Cuba.

The final sunset on our world with money as it transitions to a world without money would look like this:

even been to a farmer's market?
natural food cost s 1 per cent of processed food per your quote.you must be joking.

"the only way to keep the status quo is to print the currency like crazy AND start a major war- all eyes on Iran and israel..... "

where do you come up with these ideas.
you read an article, saw it repeated and
then you adopted it.

is life about keeping the status quo. take out your horse &buggy for a ride.

printing currency is the road to economic ruin. it always has been and will always be a destroyer of the middle class and nations.
