Freedom of speech doesn't mean you can shout "fire" in a crowded theater when there is none and this is the financial equivalent of that in these times.

Oh geez........... OK I will admit that I might be a bit touchy about my rights [ or "rights" that used to be protected]........

Your argument would hold water, in my unprotected opinion, if THERE HAD NOT BEEN A MONTH OR SO OF MEDIA TALK ABOUT BANK FAILURES and other financial BS......

SO, I would offer that it would be the equivilant of each patron of your hypothetical movie theater being handed a flyer BEFORE they purchased their ticket that there has been a recent phenomena of people yelling "fire" in the theater.....and that they should observe the facts before making a decision to panic.........

On the other hand, I would offer that "freedom of speech" should protect us from snitches who disagree with that speech.

I'd suggest you don't quit your day job to go into law...

I'm done with this thread. He wanted attention and he got what he asked for.

I've had multiple instances where bashers posting lies caused panics in stocks I owned, and those have cost me hundreds of thousands in lost profits, so I have absolutely zero sympathy for them. Go for the jugular.

Haha. I am one of the many people here who have so many ip addresses it isnt even funny. Am I in California, Ohio or Illinois? Maybe I am not in any of those states or maybe I am...

Do I use a proxy, a VPN or do I simply log on through my neighbor's wireless internet?

I can tell you this much. I have never once used the ip address that originates out of my residence or my workplace.

There are so many websites that offer free proxies. So much software out there that offer pay proxies.

No use in banning anyone, its useless.

Exactly.....that is why such telling such harmful lies are against the law. Wachovia is a lot stronger bank than WaMu and deserves to try to make it through these hard times without being sabotaged. As the old saying goes: "A lie can make it half way around the world before the truth can even get its boots on." Without a panic situation, Wachovia could work out a much better sale to Citibank or Wells Fargo......but if false reports cause a run then the Feds will force a shotgun marriage and wipe out the shareholders. I'm sure if they go back through every single one of your posts at track every single one back they'll be able to find a mistake you've made using the same hookup more than once. Don't worry, it won't be a problem for them because its all built into the software these days. I'm sure your employer will be happy to help with their network logs, too.

LOL, ESPECIALLY if you taunt them like this...

I hope they make an example out of you. They seem to have no limits what effort they are willing to go to when they get into that mode. Ask Martha.

I agree.........but would you not agree that the heavy handed tactics that would be required to squash this type of activity threatens free speech in general ?

If all of these corporate entities that have been affected were strong to begin with, then insiders and those in the know would be buying their stock hand over fist...NO ??

Port... while I agree there are some serious issues with Wachovia... Any reasonable person would be concerned and take action to protect their assets.

Just be careful... No need to paint a target on your back.

Nothing like DARING the SEC and FDIC to find you...

Believe me, I know what taking a loss feels like.....but it would seem that if company ABC could be brought down by rumors ONLY, then the fundamentals of a long position should be in question. "Panic" should bring in value buyers, right? If no buyers, then maybe where there is smoke there is fire.

So, the turning in of a fellow citizen to the Fatherland, is based upon profit and not ideology ?? Great.

If I was the people assigned by the SEC or FDIC to track you, I'd look at the logs for IP's coming from the same business more than once, and then go after all access to the logs there. My first guess would be someone in IT, because of your arrogant attitude.

You can probably tell what I do for a living, huh? LOL
