A Nobel prize for this?

Firstly, their work dates from the 70s and the 80s, so it's not clear that the conclusion was quite that obvious back then. Secondly, even if it's obvious, it still has to be proven and explained rigorously. Sometimes, in fact, it's the obvious things that are the most difficult to prove.

I think this has already been well covered (Adam Smith, Karl Marx, etc), so I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for SEK 10mln to arrive in the post.

There's nothing wrong with it, and, even more than that, it has to be this way. It's akin to complaining about the laws of nature....a waste of breath

ah, the decision makes a lot more sense when you have these facts.
 
I can't believe they didn't give this to Obama for saving the free world. (Or was that the non-free world?) Whatever. I'm sure he deserved it just like the peace prize he won. :D
