A New Undicator: NMA

Quote from Corey:

Which is probably why the humor is lost on you. Note how the title is a new "UN"dicator, instead of 'IN"dicator. The humor can be found in his very tongue-in-cheek announcement of an indicator he developed. To further his humor, he replaced almost all 'in's with 'un's, to make works like 'inspired' 'unspired'.

Now you get it! :p

That is really funny. LOL. It is not lost now! I thought he was someone from somewhere as I typically receive (real emails) written almost like he wrote his messages. This guy is really funny. I like him.

Quote from Joe Doaks:

The disappointing lack of acceptance of my Undicator series by the SCT community has emboldened me to continue my development efforts apace. Therefore I am displeased to introduce my latest unvention, the Non-Moving Average. Moving averages have the disadvantage that they MOVE, wiggling confusingly all over the price landscape. The difficulty I have always experienced interpreting these wiggles unspired me to unvestigate what happens if the average DOESN'T move. The astonishing success of this unsight is evident in the attachment, where report and desistance are much more clearly recognizable. My best to Jack and Spydertrader, who have been the unspirations for my trading excess these many years.

There are typos. Here is one: UNvention instead of Invention in "Therefore I am displeased to UNtroduce my latest unvention"

Quote from HolyGrail:

Unvention wasn't a typo.

A friend of mine is visiting with me, and responded on mybehalf to have fun/etc... He thinks trading is easy, and I challenged him to try. Hopefully the market will have a newbie/student.

Joe's posts are great (funny and true)!

Quote from Joe Doaks:

An example from today's 5 minute ES of the power of the Non-Moving Average to identify report and desistance. A powerful adjunct to SCT IMO. It is quantitative, definitive, and crayon-wide.

Mr Doaks, it is good to see that your new Undi(e)cator bears a remarkable resemblance to VWAP - purely coincidental of course. And lest we forget, the wider the crayon the better the trade. I am sure even Monsieur Plecostomus would approve.

If you want a moving average that doesn't move, just use a freaking KAMA (Kaufman adaptative moving average)

It goes flat at the slightest hint of slowdown

A brilliant observation, Equalizer. I myself deconstructed NMA and was severely disappointed to find that it is merely VWAP without the volume, a Price-Weighted Average Price, or PWAP, as it were. And you are right, it needs to be drawn with a blunter crayon to be an effective undicator.

Hey joe, thank you and all your groupies for the amazing indicators you have devined and graciously posted in these pages over the years...

I have made millions upon millions using them ad unnaseumm...
to be honest, after tweaking them just a little....
