Brooks has written millions of words but no focus on how to determine context.
he does not even define it that is one problem with Brooks......he assumes you know certain terms or he does not know how to explain them.....he obviously knows it perfectly but what he doesn't know is how to explain what they are as if to a child
context is determined by buyers and sellers......strong buyers and sellers may be clearly seen on the chart .
determine those.
and then you have your context.then it makes sense to look for set ups.

- Actually, I think he trades or educate traders of the Emini S&P Futures.
My point, maybe that's why you're having problems with the "market context" of what you're trading because it does not relate to the market context of the Emini S&P Futures.
It's a common problem...traders think a trade method can be applied to anything / everything but the market context throws them into trouble because its different from the market context being taught with the trade method.
Simply, they assume in error they are not being taught about the "market context" when the fault is they decided to apply the trade method to something with different "market context".

direction of trade entry is totally dependent on context.....you get buy set ups and sell set ups in quick secession with Brooks' set ups.
his method is determine context and then wait for a setup to restrict and measure risk
there is no chapter 'how to determine context'
