My wife works at U. of Colorado Hospital. She relates the following...
1. UC Hospital has been taking in ICU Covid cases from other states who don't have enough ICU beds.
2. UC Hospital has suspended elective surgeries where the patient would be required to stay overnight. As for now, still doing "day surgeries" where patients go home the same day.
3. Other hospitals she has learned have suspended all elective surgeries... don't know how long the suspension will remain in effect.
The blame for all of this is apparently the Delta variant... known to be more contagious than earlier variants, but not yet known if more/less virulent.
