A funny thing happens at $15 per hour...

No. those limits will increase as well. This is what's called creeping socialism. Democrat and Socialist policies are based upon feelings.-----Conservative policies are based upon facts and common sense.

Common sense and facts you say. Please remind us all again, is there a deep state?

Kind of like trickle up economy but it never gets discussed because GOP prefers trickle down where the rich get all the benefits and tax breaks and hope they pass it on haah
That's true, all the stimulus the GOP has produced since Reagan anyway has all been supply side which is one of the things that has accelerated wealth disparity. Wealth disparity is a natural consequence of return on capital being greater than economic growth, but regardless, we should not be adopting policies that accelerate this natural process, if we can help it, because it is bad for the long term stability of our democracy. If anything we should want to slow this natural process down a bit by leaving at least some disposable income with the bottom 50%. If we did that, there is a finite chance some of that disposable income would find its way into investment.

What bothers me is that the few people who argue against raising the minimum wage never talk about the fact that many of these workers are receiving government benefits. As if that’s not a tax on all of us. Would you rather pay the tax to the government for those workers or pay $.80 extra for a “value meal?”

We should remove the government benefits and those people will work harder.

Anyone can earn $20+ dollars/hour plus benefits. Its not that hard. Learn to drive a forklift and you will make that much. Learn to drive a tow truck or a Class B. Learn to run a CNC machine and you will start at $25.

I'm fine with taking it up. Shall I post the initial assumption?

Here is the initial post. Let's begin once again. I'm going to use the P&L I made back then, I don't have the patience to create a new one. Should still be valid.
---------------------

Alright, lets do it. A simple P&L of a restaurant. I just put it into Excel. Here you go. Free free to challenge any of the costs. This is Piezoe's Bistro located on the corner of "Fantasy Land Dr." and "Liberal Utopia Pl." Try the Foie Gras. Its to die for.

An eatery with 20 staff that are paid hourly, at $7.10 an hour. You want to give them $15 an hour. Lets assume for easy math they work 160 hours a month (40 a week and its a 4 week month, again for easy calcs). Assuming FICA impact and SS, and a rather small state pay of 3%. The resulting pay raise takes our razor thin margin of 6.4% and completely puts us in the Red. Now, how much of this is gotten back by pricing and through other methods? Please be clear with how much you are getting back and by how much you are getting it back.

(many of these costs as a % of revenue were achieved through discussion with two local eateries in my area of business).
That's good. Thanks. I'll get back to you this evening.

Great idea. Let’s starve children and throw them in the street because their parents haven’t gotten a forklift license.

Come on, man. You got to think this stuff through at least two levels.

We have to make means testing less penalizing. I’m not sure if there isn’t a first world country that doesn’t subsidize lower income families - some countries even subsidize middle income families. We can’t Institute 3rd world policies unless your goal is to turn America into a third world country.

Those parents should just get abortions in the first place.

You're the one railing on about social benefits. are you saying the only people who should get social benefits are those who chose not to work?

another flawed assumption by piezoe... you have been full of them the last few years...

I don't get ticked by intelligent posts.... or even opinion...

I get ticked by people who make non responsive or deceptive posts.

I would use my brain more, jem, but look how mad it makes when I do.

Not even kind of. You got the wrong guy for that kind of question.
